I will keep my leaking delco pump and open it up to either fix it, OR I am thinking about converting to electric

Opinions on an electric waterpump on a daily driver?

have they improved? I remember back when they first came out they werent very reliable.

I was thinking if I do install a pump to put a voltmeter or ammeter on the pump to see the voltage drop so I know when its bad
just do the warning light setup with a diode or resistor. there's wiring diagrams on Google of this very subject for lt1 electric water pumps. I've only ever had one fail, a csr. I have a rusty meizure as a back up that I took off due to it looking ugly, it had 100k miles on it and worked fine

can you guys pm me any links to wiring kits, diagrams and what not?

I have google searched but unfortunately a bunch of lower quality from other forums (also lower quality) clog up my search (I wont name names LOL)

Exactly how I monitor mine. I dont have any links for u, but i even added an on off switch with a high low seitch so i could circulate the coolant even when car was not on if i wanted 2.

warning light lights when motor dead shorts or opens, meaning you know when it's NOT running

    OP

I have read threads about someone who came up with a "idiot light" and "buzzer"

IMHO if that is what you need fine but at that point wire one up for oil pressure also

My $.02 is your temp gauge should be sufficient....you just need to look at it. Same for oil gauge

My Meziere has over 85k mi and another post his was over 100k mi, both Meziere. Way back when I put mine in I unplugged the fuse and went for a drive. Fwy was about 2 miles away and by the time I got to the top of onramp the temp gauge was 3/4 way up..not at red. So like checking mirrors, speedo, I just look at gauges within every few miles just by my driving habit. YMMV

I have also read of CSR failures. Not saying a Meziere will never fail, it will at some point just like any WP.

You know theres a check gages light that will come on when you are too hot.

Fair enough, but what about if you short some winding's in your rotor? Still gonna have voltage, but erratic motor operation for awhile till it blows fully open. Just was saying its easier and simpler to watch your gauges. I had a CSR die on me wayyyy back in the day and I was able to catch that fine.

(OP if you do install a EWP, make sure you use quality, properly sized wiring and get a reset able breaker versus fuse)
    Correlation does not imply causation.

if you short some windings, it should be smoking the fuse or breaker.

Use a fuse holder thats is rated for the fuse if useing a fuse. Install it close to the source. Id get one thats higher amprage and use wire larger so the fuse is the week link. Ive seen holders and wire burned or melted and the fuse still intact.no more then 7 inches from the source should the fuse be.your probably looking at 10 gage or larger bigger is better.

12 gauge is fine, just be sure to use a good aftermarket blade fuse holder and not the inline glass fuse holders they come with, @Ltconvert had his fuse holder melt in Delaware 100 miles from home. almost smoked the motor
