4.10s before tune?
hey guys two things. 1) I got beat on 40 roll by a stage 2 protune/street tune by a 06 STI :/ with my mods in sig( just about stock)) 2) I need revenge but I'm wondering should I do 4.10s before I tune it? I'm hearing they really wake up the power in the car. Opinions?

Think about it, what ever you are running now 4.10s are a great difference. I use to race air cooled vw and Id have everyone on the 60 foot but theyed catch up on the big end. For obvious reasons
I dont live to work.I work to live

You'll get more difference from the gears. You don't need to tune it before but your speedometer will be off by quite a bit. As long as your a m6. Autos need tuning prior to driving.
These cars don't really respond to "tuning" like the imports do in that sense until you do some major stuff like cam or heads where it really is necessary.Last edited by Badazz 97 TA; 07-04-2017 at 11:19 AM.

Just a thought..... With the 4.10 gears and no tune, in addition to your speedo reading 20% higher than actual speed (e.g. 72 MPH indicated at true 60 MPH) you will be racking up 20% extra miles on your odometer. Drive 1,000 miles, and the odo will increase by 1,200miles.
Another thought.... while a tune on a stock setup may typically only gain 10-15 HP by leaning out the overly rich target A/F ratio in PE mode (~WOT), some tuners will offer future additional revisions to the tune at reduced rates. You might want to contact Moe and see what he offers.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.

Yes I am an M6. I'm looking to stay in the "street stock" category for a while so I want to get as much power from bolt ons and tune. Can I just get a hypertech 3 to recalibrate the speedo?

I dont believe a hypertech will allow you to really tune the car??
If you got the cash for that Just buy a laptop and download the free tuning softwear for lt1's
