A4 3.73 Vs 4.10 gear swap
Anyone running 4.10 gears in an A4?
My pinon seal has been leaking and getting worse and now since my car is shifting into 3rd before the end of the 1/8th mile now I have been thinking of just swapping gears. Ive read alot about 3.73's and people say dont go 4.10's because it will be screaming on the interstate but I have never even had my car on the interstate and run in 3rd gear probably 75% of the time anyways since Im on backroads all the time. And obviously Im sure 4.10's would weaken the rear more than 3.73's?
I do plan to add more power later but by then Ill need a stronger rear anyways, just looking to get all I can out of a gear swap as possible.
ThanksLast edited by fullforce; 07-05-2017 at 02:47 PM.

I have 4.10s in my Impala behind the A4. Also had them in my 95 that I built for my ex.
I loved em and I have no prob on the highway with either. It def does run a bit higher in the rpms... but not outrageous imho

Lol... @LT1convert has first dibs at it. Just waiting for it to be gone thru to rule it out as the reason for the crash.
It has 3.90s or 3.70s in it fwiw...

Lol I'm waiting on something too but I'm not in a hurry haha.
Well I figured if I'm gonna do it I might as well get all I can out of it. The only complaints I see seem to be from people with no traction or that drive 80 to 90mph all the time.
Did you run them at the track before and after?Last edited by fullforce; 06-12-2017 at 11:36 AM.
