Windows Vista for tunning laptop? Or what's best?
Looking to buy a laptop and found a good deal on one with windows Vista, I know my home PC has Windows XP and it was a pain in the ass to get everything downloaded to get tuner pro and win flash working.
I was really just wondering what everyone suggests using? I've read that windows 7 might be better?

I've always liked xp. I am running 7 now and have no issues. Either way you'll be fine. Just make sure you don't lose power during programming or have a dead car battery.

I just use my everyday laptop running win10, no issues. Just get a USB to rs232 adapter with a proper FTDI chip and things should work fine.

well just to update, if anyone is looking to buy a used laptop, GET WINDOWS 7
Windows vista was horrible and not designed for some of these free apps we can use.
I bought a windows 7 install disk from ebay and it has been working great ever since!
i cannot comment on windows 10

I wish I saw this post before you pulled the trigger. I would never recommend to buy a device with a Windows OS that is no longer supported. Unless you buy it with the intent to install a newer OS, that is. Glad to hear Windows 7 is working out for you.
