    Default Impy dies again

Hope these are just gremlins I am working out of the system.

Car died after I got to work a few months ago, 45 miles to Georgetown De, would not start after work, luckily have good friends, guy comes down with a trailer, gets it to his shop wiring harness in steering column fried.

Now this past weekend drive to the beach, 45 miles or so, car has been running fine the whole time, wont start, fuel gauge is pegged past full, little less than 1/2 in the tank, no buzz and no press at the fuel rail, this is on Sat, Sunday same friend comes with trailer takes it up to his shop to troubleshoot.

Not sure if I can stand getting stranded again, hate unreliable cars.

    Just venting.

Reliable and 23 year old car dont usually go hand and hand.... BUT, you will figure it out and it might make it another 45 miles or 4500 miles.
Thats the beauty of not having a car payment and watching your vehicle loose %50 of its value the first 5 years you own it while paying interest...

Had that problem a few months ago, ended up being wire harness in the column, maybe this time its the pump. I am looking at the racetronix unit for the Impala. I have the hot wire kit already.

    U recommend anything?

Check the connector for the pump and gauge. On the F-Body (I realize you have a B-Body) it's a single connector near the rear axle, with a 12 volt wire for the pump, a signal (resistance) wire for the level float, and a common ground. The fact your fuel gauge is at the max reading probably indicates an open circuit. May be as simple as a bad ground wire, affecting both the pump and the gauge.

The F-Body has a fuel pump prime connector near the PCM that bypasses the fuel pump relay and the PCM fuel enable system. If the Impala has similar, it's a way to test the pump.

I hate to hear you're having issues. It is definitely not fun troubleshooting things like this, especially when you like to drive your car long distances.

CTS-V payments aren't that bad for what you get in return. I am a little biased. haha
