Default What is Dead May Never Die, But Rises Again Harder and Stronger

Not the best Thanksgiving weekend ever. Adjuster just determined my many years long project a total loss. Only put about 2000 miles on the new motor.

    20161127_004314.jpg20161130_101105.jpg20161130_101152.jpg20161130_101239.jpg

But there is always light at the end of the tunnel:

    20161128_144258.jpg20161128_144331.jpg20161130_101253.jpg20161130_101259.jpg20161130_101309.jpg20161130_101329.jpg20161130_101347.jpg

My friend found me a 95% original 96 SS on craigslist. It still has the original SLP car cover and floor mats. Even had the original window stickers showing the $7000+ in SLP options.

The car is basically one owner. According the carfax, the original purchaser drove the car a total of 911 miles for the six years he owned it. The second owner put about 110k on it in the next decade or so. The guy i bought it from got it from an estate sale when the last owner passed away.

Apparently neither of the previous owners knew what they had. The guy i bought it from said he got it for 5600 dollars with just under 120k on the odometer. He sold it to me for 5700 to even though he had paid to replace all of the fluids and for some reason replaced the stock TOTL with a flowmaster catback.

By the way, the car is a T-56 with no engine mods, stock hood and spoiler (with peeling clear coat), hard top, and with what looks like all of the options checked. The owner also dynoed it as his plan was to mod it until he decided to sell. It made 254 hp and 298 torque at the wheels.

The car is not without its faults, however. It needs a new clutch and shocks (both original), needs to have the hood and spoiler re-cleared, the radio is all fucked up, and the window switch bezels both need to be replaced. As is usual with these cars, the dash pad is cracked minimally.

I am pretty excited about this car and I am pretty happy about the deal that I got. My plans are to start swapping parts from my wrecked project over bit by bit. I am towing the wrecked car to my friend's shop this week so I can put it on a 2-post and start stripping it. I am going to start with all of my UMI suspension and then pull the drivetrain and do a straight K-member swapover.

No injuries. I was going 40-50 coming off of an interchange in the rain. started accelerating to highway speed but i gave it too much gas. Tires spun and i ended up in the wall to my right and then hit a car afterward. I wasn't even sore afterward.

Very nice looking SS! One of the best looking stock/optioned 93-02 Fbody of all time. Glad your old car will live on in the new car. My advice is to keep the original parts off the SS in dry storage somewhere. These will regain value soon.

I still need to think about what to do with my parts. I kind of want to sell the tranny to make back some money but harner makes a good point about keeping it so i can revert the car to original if needed for the future. I may just take the stock drivetrain home and leave in in the garage at my mom's house or something. I think i can throw away the stock suspension and be fine.
