    Default NJ Noob Here

    Hello everyone,

My name is Andrew and I live in NJ. I have a 95 Vette that I bought about 4 years ago and have spent pretty much the first 2 1/2 years building. I'm not much of a wrencher personally, but have been working on it with friends who are, and have helped get to the point I'm at.

The original owner is a close friend of mine who bought it when it was just 3 years old, and when he got out of the Marines. Obviously, I have known the car a long time and when he and his wife were pregnant with their first and he commented about how he would be willing to sell it (over much beers one night...LOL) I pounced and showed up the next day with cash before he could change his mind!

The car is crazy clean, but the motor had 105K on it, rear main had a leak, and needed a lot of refreshing. Since I got the car for dirt cheap, I started doing some homework (joined and read everything I could on pretty much every vette forum there is) and started putting together a build to make the car into what I wanted to do with it. So here's where I'm at now:

Engine - Purchased a CF user's project he couldn't complete; No miles
    - 4 bolt 396 LT4 all forged (Pat Musi built)
    - Eagle Crank/Callies Rods, SRP Pistons
    - 11.25-11.5 Compression
    - Comp Cams 242/248 LSA 110 .571/.577 242/248 Custom Grind Solid Roller
    - AFR 220 Heads (Ported/Polished/Matched to Intake)
    - LT4 Intake Ported Polished (Heads and Intake work by Tony Mamo)
    - HS 1.6 RRs
    - ASM 1000cfm TB
    - 42lb SVO "Green Top" injectors
    - Canton 7qt Race Road Pan with traps
    - Customized Chevrolet Tall Valve Covers and breathers (didn't come with motor)
    - Mezierre HD Electric Water Pump
    - HyperTech T160 Stat

The engine was a fresh build, sitting on a stand. We scoped it and check everything out before buying/installing...all looked straight $.

    Drivetrain
    - ZF-6 Tranny
    - Viper OE 4.10 Gears (Stock Dana 44 rear) (no speedo gear change; gauges all whacked)
    - All brand new Spicer Joints/Straps (main drive and half shafts)
    - Brand new master and slave clutch cylinders and cable
    - SPEC Stage 4 Puck Clutch with Steel Billet Flywheel

    Exhaust
    - ARH Stainless Longtubes
    - No EGR/No AIR Pump
    - Corsa Cat Back System
    - No Cats (deleted because they almost caught the car on fire...twice!)

    Brakes/Wheels
    - C5 Z06 Red Calipers and 5 Spoke (Polished Lip)
    - Ceramic Pads all around

    Other Goodies
    - LTCC (Bill Bailey Opti->Coil Pack Ignition Conversion) w/LS2/7 coil packs (not yet installed but plates for coil packs made for mounting)
    - Banski Racing Rear Suspension Links (Full - Camber, Toe, and Trailing Arms)
    - Rear Suspension lowering bolts

There's probably more stuff I'm forgetting, but you get the idea. The idea was to have a C4 to take all comers on the street, and still hold it's own at the track.

I came across this site because of my current predicament - I can't seem to get this car tuned right. I can't get the FUEL out of this car. It runs ridiculously rich and is still basically undriveable, yet fires up EVERYTIME without fail. I was looking for local LT specialists when this site came up. Not sure how I never came across you guys after all the above, but that's how I'm here. I'm hoping to learn, make some friends, get this car finished as planned, and talk/meet/drive with other LT cars owners!

Thanks so much for having me.

    ---
P.S. - Oh, almost forgot. I became a Dad myself this past January, which is why I've not been able to get much done the last year or so of owning the car.

I'm a software engineer by trade, so PCM/techie stuff is easy for me; at least to do log/program. But I have ZERO clue what I'm looking at with the tables and adjustments! I do have DataMaster and CATS Tuner.

    Also, have tons of pics.

Yeah, it's a bit of a hike from your neck of the woods, but I still get down to Englishtown at least 3 times a year.

I went to Rutgers and lived in the Rt. 18 area for a few years afterward...

Then, life somehow moved me along.

The guy my motor came from was down that way... One of the Amboys, me thinks.

Welcome from a fellow NJ resident. Your build sounds pretty good and Pat Musi does really good work.
