    Default Remember...

14 years ago... about 12 hours from now... things changed FOREVER. We constantly say NEVER FORGET on this anniversary, but looking at where we have gone since then... maybe its time to REMEMBER. REMEMBER the day... the time, we were all ONE. We were all AMERICANS... we were not black... white... yellow... cops... criminals... we WERE AMERICANS, PERIOD.

I lost a few people I knew. No one close, but still.

I remember it back in 01. I was in first grade, 6 years old. My brain wasn't developed enough to know what was going on. I just remember we had the news on for the rest of the day. All the teachers were crying.

    I'll never forget it..

I was in the Honor Guard at McGuire AFB at the time. Went walking into my normal flight squadron (2nd ARS) and my commander pointed at me and said "Your honor guard rotation is suspended. Go home, you're in crew rest for bravo alert as of right now." I bolted home and sat watching the tv all day just in shock.

I was on the first aircrew alerted, second aircrew airborne the next morning. Flew a 12 hour combat air patrol over Chicago. Nothing but us Tankers and the pointy noses patrolling the skies. It was eerie as anything. When we got relieved to head home, ATC gave us direct KWRI from overhead Chicago. That's how empty the skies were.

I remember that day very well. I was in bay 27 putting together a set of 3196 marine engines with my brother. When it came on the radio they were thinking it was a accident till the outer plane hit. After that it was a bit surreal listening to the reports then seeing it on tv when I got home.

I was 21, fixing to get married the following Saturday. My fiance had spend the night at my parents. Woke up with the news on and went to get her up to see what was going on. The thing that the younger folks cant remember is how the whole country was in panic. No one knew what was next. if there would be more attacks, invasion, no one knew. We almost cancelled our wedding, once again not knowing what was next. I also remember the old times I worked with talking about major war and a good possablity of them re instating the draft. It was a scary time and we weren't remotely close to NYC

I was 25... i had just gotten hired as a police officer 11 days earlier.

I was only on the job for a few days. 3 of us went to NY and stood guard at one of the locations where they were keeping the found deceased.

    Ill never FORGET.

We will never forget the brave people who risked their lives or all the peoples whos lives were lost. It's a humbling and sad feeling when you hear the stories of those lost.

I remember I was in seventh grade....I forgot until Walt mentioned the other effects in the following weeks. People talking about possible invasion or the draft. I mowed several yards at the time for work and nearly all my customers didn't want their hard to even be mowed for the next couple weeks.
