    Default 2016 Camaro

I just learned that the new camaro has the new LT1 in it. I didnt think we would see that till the next gen. Does that mean that all of gm's v8s will start moving towards the lt based design and getting away from the LS (LQ) design?

Maybe @meissen or @joelster have some insight?

Yep. LS will be dead as soon as they phase them out of the 2500HD truck line. Currently for 2015 model year, you can still get a 6.0 LS in the trucks and the 2015 Camaro's still have 6.2/7.0 LS3/7's. All 2016 Camaro V-8's are LT based just like the C7 'Vette. I would assume that they will develop a 6.0-6.2 high torque LTx engine for use in the HD line of trucks to replace the antique 6.0 LS that has been in use for about 9 years now. I'm not sure if any LS based stuff can pass emissions tests for 2017 and beyond. I know that the direct injection of the LTx stuff helps with emissions.

Are 2017 emissions requirements going to get stricter on new cars?

The 2016 Camaro is the next generation, so that's why it's getting the LT1.

I saw that, I was wondering if the LS/LQs would be leaving from everything new, and the LT going in everything V8.

I was just about to post how the LS7 was supposedly going in the new ATS-V, but unfortunately, looks like GM shot the idea down.

I'm eager to see the new platform make some power and drive down prices of the LS stuff. Would have been nice to see the LT1 in the later body style 5th gen (14-15).
