Valve train components for a cc305 camshaft
Hey guys. I was doing some reading, and I'm trying to avoid the massive cam that I was going to have put in my 95 Imp like I had planned. It's just way too big to not involve headwork, and headwork is super expensive, so I'm going to settle with a smaller cam.
The CC305 was my first go to, next to the Crane 227. I want the 305 because of it's mild chop, but I'm really in the market for anything .510/.510 to use with stock aluminum heads.
Now I'm to the point on deciding what valve train to use. I don't know if I need the high dollar components that I'd needed with my massive custom grind, but much prefer the more budgety side of this. etc: valve springs, rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, retainers, valve locks, valve seals.
I'd really appreciate the help guys. I'm trying to get started on the build to have it done in the mid to late summer.
Thanks.1995 DCM Impala SS

To add, I have also been looking at Alex's Parts. I have read tons of good things about them.

Budget is not spending a couple hundred on one component. I'll spend a couple hundred on kits, etc, but not for a set of springs.

Talk with Lloyd, his cams are barely more than off-the-shelf ones but will perform much better. Not to mention Lloyd has probably the best customer service in the automotive industry, he will make sure you are happy with what he picked out for you and tell you pretty much every supporting component you need to get the most out of it.
The CC305 is a very old grind, a carry over from GEN I days IIRC. Not that this makes it a terrible cam, but for the money you can do better.

Had zero issues with my second set of Alex Parts valvesprings. The first set had dampeners in them and chewed up the valve seals after the dampeners fell apart. On there site it says the new ones don't have them. Other then that I never had an issue with mine... Lloyd doesn't like those or the comp beehive valve springs though so just a heads up

a budget set up would eb something like the Alex parts spring kit ($110), Pro Form 66915 rockers ($200), Trick flow 21407100 pushrods ($100) and custom cam ($300).
Most re-use stock lifters if in good shape but if you want/need new ones the LS7 lifters are about $130 or a good set od Comp/Lunatis would be $210.
Better springs ($200-250) will allow better lobe profiles but we can work with the Alex springs if needed.
What gears in rear end?
What stall?
Lloyd
