    That may be my problem because he converted it to R134A

    I did some research on R134A conversion for C4's and it looks like my mechanic did it right, so that leads me to believe that the problem does not lie with the conversion.

    You can also by a metal heat shield to protect the starter. Its got insulation between two layers of metal.

    And as much as I hate wrapping headers, consider wrapping the section right next to the starter.

    You could also do a ford starter solenoid trick my dad did it on his Camaro

    Thanks sideswipe. That's the plan if the mini starter doesn't solve the problem. My AC is working again, it turned out to be an electrical issue.
