    Default need help

    Hello eveyone,
I just noticed a big oil leak that is all over my t56 bellhousing and hitting my headers which I can smell it burning. Its getting all over the oil filter and starter gear which caused my started to burn out. I dont see any oil leaking from the valve covers , no oil coming from the rear manifold, nothing dripping from rear main seal that I can see. The timing cover , water pump and opti gaskets are good and no leak up front. I also have checked and sealed the oil pressure sensor above the oil filter and it looks good. The only oil I can see is toward the rear last head bolt and runs run down on both sides of the block. But the oil mainly covers the bellhousing and getting on headers and o2 sensors. Any help would be great what to do to track this tricky leak down.

How bad is the leak? Does it noticeable drip when the engine is running? Or are these parts getting wet during driving?

When I built a 95 camaro for my ex... it had a rebuilt motor...we chased and chased a similar leak that we could not find... after having the trans in and out 5 times a friend said "install a crank sleeve." Had no idea whatn it was. It was explained as a shapped aluminum sleeve (very thin). Kinda like a condom. Turns out when the prev owner had the crank turned it left a mar in the end..and that was literally how the oil escaped. Now every time I get a chance and a trans is out of any vehicle I own that has a leak....a sleeve goes on.

Pic below is ironically of my 94 ta...getting the piece today.

I will have to take it back to the shop that built it to check the engine and crank.

Just remember...im not sure this i ur prob...but ur story reminds me of our search for a leak.

Just in that case here is a poc of where the sleeve goes and the official name and purpose.

    uploadfromtaptalk1402635121758.jpg

Its called a speedy sleeve n its the same as the sleeve repair people do on balancers or pinion yokes it gives the seal a new surface to ride against. You can't see it but thats where it goes

I was just trying to track down the leak with out having to take the car to the shop and be out of a car for a few days. But since I cant find it and it may be internal, I will take it back and have them find it . They gave me a 24 month warranty, so its all good.

    Thanks for everyone helps
