LT1 Clutch Disk Suggestions? (Mostly Stock)
So for now, and the near future, my LT1 isn't going to make more than 350hp. Kids to feed, and all that. I'm going to put in a stock flywheel and pressure plate (my Autozone pressure plate is under warranty, freebie!) and just use a light performance disk. Suggestions on what the disk should be?

I've got a Spec 3+ in my car, feels just like a stock clutch when driving around normally, but when you wanna slam on it, you can tell it grabs on and doesn't let go lol. @96LT1355Z28 can get you a good deal on a clutch kit, whichever one you decide to go with.

A 3+ is overkill for a mild car like that, mainly on price IMO. If you're looking for full aftermarket, I'd recommend either a Spec 2 or 2+, or a McLeod Single Disc. I have run both the Single Disc and the 2+ and they were both stock tempered clutches. I killed the McLeod Single Disc in about 20K miles with a few hundred dragstrip passes as a bolt on car though. THe Spec 2+ was an AWESOME clutch that bit hard enough to bark a 3-4 powershift on the mexican highways during a race.

Thanks, I should have added that this car is primarily a driver. In-town traffic (suburbia) mostly. I'm more likely to wear out a clutch in normal driving than I am to beat it to death. I have 19x10 C6 wheels on the back with sticky tires, so dumping the clutch just results in 10-bolt shrapnel...

PM sent, I think a Spec 1 or 2 would be perfect for your car. Spec clutches come as a kit so we can't get just the disc. If you have any questions please let me know. We can get other brands like McLeod, Centerforce, and Ram but most of my knowledge an personal experience is with Spec products.
If your wanting to use the stock PP you have, there was a disc some guys were bying and they seemed very happy with it. I just can't remember what it's name was but I know it was available at a national parts store (Advance, NAPA, Autozone, etc). Hopefully someone will chime on with that disc, it would deffinatly be your cheapest option.Last edited by 96LT1355Z28; 02-05-2014 at 12:53 PM.

A competition clutch 2 or 2.5 is something you might want to take a look at. There great clutches, handle power well and are reasonably priced heard nothing but great reviews on them.

^^That's another option, I've never used one but I've heard good things abut them here. You can probably find some info about them just by searching this site.

I've ran a 6 puck rigid disc in the past. Stop and go driving is extremely tough. If you go the competition clutch route I would strongly recommend a sprung disc. The rigid had a tendency to chatter like chatty Cathy on meth
