95 z-28 LT-1 into 95 C1500
Hey everyone, I've been researching and have still come up empty on a few things. If you can help then please chime in. Here's what I've got:
My truck: '95 Silverado 1500 2wd. 5.7 TBI auto trans. 252,800 miles (last 30k have been abusive) runs, drives every day
Donor car: '95 Camaro Z-28 5.7 LT-1 auto trans. 125,000 miles. (has bolt ons and stuff so Ill assume its been dogged some) runs, trans slips in higher gears.
I want to put the LT-1 in my truck. Ill freshen it up and maybe put a few things on it. I know all about the opti spark and the problems that come with it but I have this stuff and intend to use it. Plus if I get tired of the opti spark there are plenty of conversions out there. Anyways, I'm curious about the diff in the Camaro. Its a 10 bolt posi and my truck also has a 10 bolt but open diff. Are they interchangeable? Also, I'm familiar with wiring but would say my skill level is a 6 at best. Is the wiring for this swap out of my league? Any positive help would be appreciated and rewarded with lots of progress pics in my build page. Thanks for lookin!

The opti only has constant issues when other things are overlooked and neglected, it's actually very reliable.
The Silverado 10 bolt is a 8.5" ring gear; where the ring gear in our cars is 7.5" so the carrier is different.
For wiring, Contact @green96ta at BP Automotive. He's one of our sponsors and has a great reputation for his harnesses.
Other than those things, take your time and get some pics of the project up.2012 Sierra - 5.3, Summit "Stage 1" Truck Cam

If you've got a good harness there is only a few wires to hook up to make it work. I just hooked one up for a temporary start up and I was surprised how little it takes.

Thanks for the info guys. Glad to hear all of the optispark isn't a lost cause. Lots of LS-1 guys have been trying to talk me into going the same route as them. Anyways, hers my truck. Its my daily driver/work truck. Bought it from my uncle stock with 20" wheels. I lowered it 3/4, put 22" wheels on it, K&N drop in filter, true duals with flowmaster mufflers, Smoked tail lights and corner lights, colormatched grille and bumpers, headlights with 8000k HIDs for hi/low beams, blue LED gauge, window switch, headlight switch, and climate control bulbs, and put some audio in it. Anyways..PICS
