    Default 4L80E Conversion a Success!...so far

I finally drove my car yesterday after converting it from the 4L60E to the 4L80E. The conversion went pretty good with not much modification or fabrication needed. Still have some transmission tuning to do but...wow what a different animal it is. It shifts so solid and strong it doesn't even compare to the 60.

I did a complete rebuild myself, this was the first time doing the 80. I have done a few 60's before but the 80 is sooo much easier to rebuild and cheaper. I want to thank Dynamic396, Slow67, and Jake's Performance for their help with parts and advice.

Once I get some miles and the tuning is complete it's track time.

are you running the 24x conversion? I didnt think the LTx pcm would control the 80e, but then again Ive never really looked into it.

In for the details. What PCM are you using to control the 80e?

Stock OBD1 PCM. So far I've changed nothing in the tune to run it but I will have to do some fine tuning of shift points and TC locking. WOT it shifts perfect.

Cool to hear. I remember on Camaro5 they were contemplating "upgrading" their 4L80Es to 4L60Es.... I just laughed

Much stronger, it's a TH400 with overdrive. The 60 is fine for most people and mine worked well but the more power I made the more it had to come out for a refresh. Some say it's a bit quicker because 1-2 shift has less of an RPM drop but I'm not sold on that yet. I just want to over build my car then dial it back a bit so it will last longer.

Did some tuning tonight on the trans, shift points, TCC lockups, and basically tuned out the PWM functions. The more I tune the more I like it.

I love mine. You guys are going to make a lot of guys happy for getting it to work with the LTX PCM.

Can you post any details on what you had to do to get it to work out with the LtX PCM?
