OK i tightened a couple exhaust manifold bolts because I was going to change them.
Put the valve covers back on.
Put heat loose heat shield back in place.

It seems to be on the top under intake sounded like running through valve cover.
Where could the exhaust leak be?

I will try to run it and check the oil pressure.

What I was expecting but was hoping an exhaust leak or something. Will check oil pressure later.

Is there an easy way to test/determine?

The hesitation seems to be a common lt1 issue but nothing really solid as a fix.
It doesnt happen when the car is cold, which is strange.

tested vacuum lines again by spraying carb cleaner around nothing seemed to make the engine surge.
Anyone have an idea why the car hesitates at around 1200?

well got it back together fire damaged was only a few tubes.
I verified the cold air was tight.
I fixed any hoses that looked questionable.

Tested fuel pressure it was about 43, 38...
