my g/f has asked me what i wanted for my bday. i'm thinking a manual cutout since you can get a new one for like $35. so after looking around on here and asking around, just wanting some advice on what to do and what to go with. i have pacesetter LT's so its got a 3" collector but stock size exhaust from there back...i think (gonna measure y pipe and the rest tomorrow). i was told you can only put the cutout under/around the backseat area of the exhaust, only place with enough room, and i wont really see any gains. is this true? if so can i just use 3" piping from the header to the cutout? i was thinking the most logical place for the best gain would be right after the y pipe. thanks.

You really aren't going to gain much at all. I can feel a loss of low end torque with mine open. It'll sound like you're faster though, but in reality, you just sound like a dump truck and you'll get poor ground clearance. I would just save your money and get a nice catback like GMMG or Corsa which is moderately loud, but it actually has a tone instead of just straight pipes lol
