hi guys i have firebird formula 1995 LT1
when i start my car it look like its running rich. The carbon on the pipes, the rich smell, and the burning of the eyes tells me (maybe wrong) that I am running rich .can any one tell me what it could be?well i recently bought the car and i checked the spark plugs its platnum NGK TR55gp and i checked the gaps they all were up and down so i set all the gaps at .055 is that ok and all the plugs were black on the tip look like carbon.i have seen most of the people they put NGK TR55s so like to know what is the diffrence between this and in my car?should i change the spark plugs into TR55s?will it solve the problem?

Plugs won't solve that problem. Get the car scanned as there's likely an underlying issue.

There is no way to manually pull the codes. They have to be read off of a scanner. Is your SES light on?

could be an O2 sensor if its running rich

Just have autozone pull the codes for you

You will need to yse an obd1 scanner with jumper wires to your OBD2 port to scan it.

His 95 has an obd2 port with an OBD1 PCM. I highly doubt that autozone will have a scanner that can scan it without using the jumper wire method.
