There are several LTx's on this site that I would run from in fear...fortunately for me, none of them are at any of my local tracks or on the streets near me!

So for now....I will stay out of your sight...or at least far enough ahead of you that you can't see me clearly!

Dont know what your talkin about. Ive raced 4 LS1s in my car so far and beat them all. 2 vettes, 1 Z28 and a TA.
I raced the Z at the track, we both had 60ft issues but with the same mods(cat back exhaust). His LS1 trapped 99mph, My Lt1 trapped 102mph.
On average yes they are faster but not always and driver has a lot to do with it.

99 MPH in an LS1 car stock would be unfortunate.

99 with a couple mods is just pathetic.

i pulled a 02 t/a with slp lid when i had just cai, and exhaust. no headers. and a powr programmer tune hahahah. it may have been maybea half a car tops, but thats still a win!

I know that on top end an ls1 car usually rapes an lt if both are stock or close to stock, but at the track i believe that it is a drivers race from what ive seen personally.

Most ls1 cars i see run are usually mid 13 to low 14 second cars depending on local track conditions. Granted i have seen one run 12.7 with a lid and exhaust, but that dude could drive!

It took me full bolt ons and 4:10s to run with my buddies bone stock '01 ss. Trust me we tried just about every race situation possible and it was always about who could launch better and or shift faster.

Alcohol is an amazing thing.

I stick to beating on Mustangs, as our local LSx guys are no joke.

It's funny though, it took Ford til 2005 to create a Mustang (GT, not 03+ cobra) that can even come close to consistently beating on a 10+ year old LTx car.

I've been ahead of the majority of LS1s (similiar mods of course) I've raced at the track until after the 1/8 mile. Then I might as well just bend over. I have taken a few, though (before nitrous). Kind of surprises some of those guys with my lil ol LT1, haha. The LS1 guys I hand around with aren't punks however. There's 4 of my close friends over 400 and I'm the only LT guy, haha. I help work on their stuff and they help work on mine. I actually enjoy working and playing with LS1s. They are very user-friendly IMO. They respond well to mods, are easy to work on, and have very good street manners in "stockish" trim- more so than an LT1. I can hook an LS1 on the street alot easier than my LT.

Even with all this considered, I'm sticking to my LT1. :secret: I love the low-end torque too much. I would like to get an LS1 Vette for a DD, though haha.

Even some of those races with 05+ GTs really aren't that close :jest: The couple that I have raced have lacked the driver mod, which is probably the most important mod for the car. With a driver, they are alot more respectable than the previous GTs though.

:face_shocked: That's actually somewhat slow for a stock LT1. My car bone stock, full weight, with me driving went 13.80 @ 102 on STREET TIRES on the third ever pass on the car. :secret: :D

I will agree that theres a bunch of LTxs on here that i fear. I guess i just dont see a point in causing a war, they are both good at different things.

never ran mine in teh 1/4 but i had my bolt on LT1 running 7.9s @87-88 in the 1/8 and on street tires i trapped a whapping 89.9mph 2.26 60' with an et of 9.2 lol. put slicks on it and BAM! 7.92, 7.97, 7.95 all day long. but that was auto. t56'd i could never get it to hook and not bog :(

When I went to the track over the summer in my Formula, traction was not my friend that day. 2.3 60ft's, spinning all through 1st, and just terrible luck. I was on baldish tires (so that explains why), and I was running 14.1 @ 101. It was aweful, but now that I can hook and dont have a traction issue, I'm guessing I'll be around a 13.7ish? Maybe faster, IDK. Still, stock LS1's should be faster with a decent driver.

I've only raced 1 LS1 car before, a Trans Am in which a chick was driving, and she pulled on me. We went from a 40 roll. I have a ton of respect for the LS1's, and would like to get one in a few years.

I love my Formula, but I think the LS1 F-Bodies are the "best bang for the buck". They respond way better to mods and theres a lot more potential in them. :secret:

I have raced a couple of LS1s in my day as well... an '02 35th SS vert on Woodward and a '01 T/A on the highway. Had them both by like half a car. Probably the drivers though :)

I love the LT1s for there low end power! I like to feel the power... if you know what I mean!? You just don't get that from a LS1.

My biggest complaint is with my 94 bolt on's I paid just over a 3rd of what my friend paid for his 00 T/A with the LS1. I have 110k on my odometer and he has 110 on his odometer. I'll stick with the price difference. I'll run him all day long as well. Not to menion, his 3 and 4 gears got married and moved out of his transmission I think. :D

I have a stock lt1 with no muffler or cat and a built tranny with 2800 stall and beat 3 ls1 trans ams and camaros that was stock also and with my car being stock with no back pressure that makes me feel that lt1s are pretty fast but the ls1 will beat me on highway but not on the street, but i would love to have me an ls1 trans am ws6 thats one of the best looking cars on the road

nothing wrong with either engine, i just love the feel of ltx more than lsx. but id never diss a good engine such as the lsx series.

all motors and cars are good, everyone has there personal feelings about them, and what they like. i didn't know much about 4th gens when i bought mine. just that it had a v8 that was good enough. since then ive learned a ton about the ltx engines, driven both ltx and lsx cars. and know what i want and like.

i think when you get into these cars you just tend to learn things you never thought you would learn.

that is all.

I'd just like to point out my lsx(5.3 actually) will go faster mph in the 1/8th than my lt1 will in the 1/4, and do it in 1/2 the time. Also the 5.3 will go probably 40mph MORE in the 1/4 this year than my lt1. :secret::secret::secret::laugh::laugh::laugh:
