I recently had an idea to ceramic coat my true duals. I went with duals after having three different exhaust and not being happy with any of them. I am about done with my project (CC503, Performabuilt stage 2, Yank, full suspension) and wanted my cam to sound as good as possible. While I had some of the new suspension parts being powder-coated, my guy happen to mention that he can ceramic coat any of the parts. I figured since my Pacesetters were ceramic coated, why not make the rest of it look just as good. I also had some O2 sensor bungs welded in to accomodate the new wideband.

Here is what I came up with and I thought you guys might like to see some pics! :D

ceramic coating might look cool, and last longer then spray paints. but its goin to do nothing for performance.

I did not do it for any performance gains.
I did it to reduce temps, prevent rust and to look good.

In all reality does it really matter how hot your tailpipe is? only the headers matter kuz thats where teh heat counts (in yur engine bay)

plus the ceramic coating is made to hold heat inside... so now its not gonna get the pavement or grass hot... woot woot

in thery it keeps exhaust velocity up by keeping the heat inside. but in reality it couldent of done anything for performance. but it does look cool.

Wow vendetta just let him be, whys it matter if its coated or not? The pavement and grass is going to get hot anyway since they are dumped, but whatever I'm sure you can find more to bitch about

The exhaust looks good man, but I'm sure its loud LOL mine was with dumped bullets, I had to get rid of that setup before I got into trouble :)

Lol...I don't look too much into useless comments. If he doesn't like my system, that's cool with me. Everyone has thier own opinion. I just happen to think it looks better than most of the exhaust set-up's out there and wanted to share it. I didn't do it for any performance gain and I never stated that I did.

Thanks for the positive words! It is pretty loud, but the mufflers I chose sound great at almost any RPM. Very satisfied.

They are junk ass hooker coated headers, if your ever in the market for headers don't buy the hookers IMHO

Very sweet and as a matter of fact I just got some LT's and was wondering how I was going to finish it up. You just made up my mind.:hail:
Thank You and I hope you don't mind a few PM's on that set up.

Ceramic metalic also helps the scavinging of the Exh as well as cooler underbody heat. Ever park your car on tall dry grass?
There is also a Chemical coating that has a gun metal blue finish that is a bit better than ceramic metalic.

I don't mind the PM's at all. Always willing to help when I can.

what did it cost ya? Probably not something I'd go for but, it looks good and should stay that way for quite some time.

Here is a breakdown of all the cost :

3" Universal X-pipe Kit - $95
(2) 3" Sweet Thunder chambered mufflers - $132
(2) Universal turn downs - $36

Subtotal for parts - $263

Labor for welding - $200
Ceramic coating - $100

Grand Total : $563

You can always cut some corners by buying cheaper mufflers, clamping instead of welding and finding cheaper labor. (Like a buddy who welds) I personally do not like to cut corners and I love the sound of the mufflers. That and they are stainless steel. I have also always liked my exhaust no matter what brand to be welded over being clamped for piece of mind.

So for the price of a decent cat-back, I have a custom set of ceramic true duals that will last me a very long time.
