View Full Version : Undecided LT1 in 91 3/4 ton truck?

I have the motor I pulled out of my car last year. It ran fine but I would go thru it anyways. I'm just not sure if I want to go thru the work of putting it in my old truck. The truck has been sitting for about 6 months with a cracked head or two :laugh: Man was it hot It's been a good old truck and a stock LT would have tons more power then a tbi. What do you guys think?

I'm sure I will be doing this soon. Like before winter hits need a smaller cam for that motor, it has a cc306 in it know with dual springs and a low mileage MSD opti so it's will be a decent start.

I did that swap in my 96 1/2 ton. You do have to notch the frame if you want to keep the A/C. If you didn't, I bet you could get by with a delete pulley. I considered that route, but didn't actually do it. It appeared that it would work, though.

It's really not that bad of a swap if you're good with wires. You'll like the swap I'm sure. Those TBI motors are pretty gutless, but one of the best motors GM has ever made IMO.

I say do it if you can do all the work yourself.

or you coulda drove the 80 C10 in the rain and not totaled the LT1. :monkey:

I had an 81 C10 I was gonna drop the 355 from my 78 camaro into it for fun but when I got my Ford Lightning I gave up and cut the Chevy up got rid of it. Motor is still in my 78.

Well I got this thing under the knife. But no LT1 its getting a third generation motor. :devil:
