View Full Version : 2009 LTX Shootout date has been set

Tony Shepherd

Saturday, May 30th 2009 Kansas City International Raceway (KCIR)

Well, it has been written in. Will not be totally set in stone until they make next years schedule in the next few weeks but they gave us this available date. I tried for June but it was booked, July is booked as well. This is the weekend after Memorial Day and will still have decent temps and a less chance of rain than April.

What do you guys think? Will this work?

I think this is the same weekend as the Oreilly NHRA Nationals in Topeka, KS...which is not very far from KC. I usually go to it every year, so I guess I'll try to figure out a way to do both :jest: Maybe I'll drive my car to Topeka on the friday the 29th for qualifying, and then get up Sat morning and drive on to KC for the shootout

I noticed that earlier but talking with KCIR we agreed it should not affect our turnout much. Hope you can make it.;)

Sounds good Tony. I'm still upset for not making it to the last one. I won't have much to do over the winter this time around. I'll be making some liscensing passes next weekend. So that's even going to be out of the way.

I plan to bring an LSX powered vehicle to the shoot-out again next year, my tow vehicle!

LSXs make great trucks engines, but that is about the only thing I would ever use an LS engine for (towing)! :D

You'll have to stop by Moore again to drink some beer with me and shoot pool!

Tony,

You always have an open inviation to stop by my place "any time" to drink some beer and talk LTX stuff.

Last year you just got here too late, Matt, Robert, Ray and Kelly and John and his family and I had already finished the beer drinking by the time you arrived!

Tony,

I have a large house and huge driveway (we're talking parking room for 8 or more tow rigs), so next year you've got a place to stay. Matt and Robert stayed with me last year, but I could have had more people over if we had been more organized (I didn't know just who exactly would be here and when they were arriving).

And, we will be completely organized this next year. :D

Not sure if this has been asked...so does it look like all last years rules will remain intact for the '09 event?

Any chances of LTx Extreme street being able to run single planes?

Also, once at the event, would we have the option to choose the class...cause alot of that might depend on who shows up:secret:

Do alot of guys run both the power adder class and outlaw?

Thanks!

Let me ask you something? Are you afraid to line up against someone you think is faster than you? So you only want to run in a class where you think you are the fastest car? At least 50% of the time the fastest cars do not make it through eliminations. Red lights, driver errors, engine malfunctions, traction problems...etc can cause the fastest car to loose to the slowest car in the field. I have seen it and done it. I would be honored to line up against Chris Sykora and loose. It will be fun trying and I just might win if he is not on his game that day. Ya get my drift? LOL.:D I would not pick and choose a class because of who is racing in it.

also....I am sure guys will be running more than one class if they fit the rules.

Yes, yes I am actually.
We need a James Montigny class where I make all the rules up as to ensure
that I am the only car with a chance of winning.

Let's start with
Canadian-driven, with AC, HR, and has to be a 93 Firehawk. :jest:

And I propose that we do everything we can to keep Skinnies out of the "Street" class

I'm kidding, but I would like to see a real street class for those not running
extreme setups even if it were so tight that I didn't qualify. It would be fun to
see a bunch of 12-13 sec bolt-on and cammed cars duke it out.

If you keep stock computers in the Xtreme street class it will limit even the single plane guys to within an RPM range (that we all know and love).

Okay point taken...no I dont want to run in a class where Im the fastest car but really just be competitive is more what I was thinking. It may not matter...looks like the only classes I will qualify for then are PA and Outlaw. If there is a field of low 9 sec cars that show up that day...my drinking that day will start very early..lol. Welp its all about having fun right?

You buying a stock catback and removing your STB? :tt2:

I'm gonna try everything i can to make it, gas is gonna kill me 5 and a half hours, 366 miles to be exact from my house to the track haha. Good thing i have a trailer haha.

Just curious about what class my car would be in? Mods that should be done by then are. Hot cam kit, port and polished stock heads, 11.1:1 compression, tune, Full exhaust with cut-out possibly, cold air, some suspension (LCA's torque arm, subframe connectors) preety much just a cam only car with a slight bump in compression and some basic head work. Should be a low 12 sec maybe 12.0's high 11 sec car.

Just curious on what rules and restrictions i would have, and some other cars i'd be running against.

www.ltxshootout.com (http://www.ltxshootout.com)

Rules, regulations, and classes can be found here. IIRC, you can compete in 2 classes. It will specify on the site, or Tony will know off the top of his head.

Looking forward to this years event!!!!

//EDIT

I think the rules/classes could change slightly, but that will get you pointed in the right direction. The rules on the site are still for 2008. Might not be 100% concrete.

I'm looking forward to meeting a bunchload of you guys (and gals, I assume).

I'm not positive if I will be running or not, chances are I'll be the noob to snap the first 10 bolt, but it'll only give me motivation to get a real rearend in it :)

Im still sorting out rearend combo's and front suspension set-up ! Im falling a little behind being as im doing a Engine swap for a friend ( the car was butchered by a crappy shop )- i get to re-do everything just to make it run!
