Whats wrong with my car?

Just a few days it started doing this....

I turn the key over and it cranks for about 5 seconds before it fires, it used to just crank and fired right away....

is it a fuel pressure regulator? Fuel pump? :hmm: maybe just a fuel filter?

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you first power the car up??? Could be that, or a bad check valve in teh pump allowing fuel to drain siphon back to the tank too.

Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on the rail to see if the pressure is there? When was the last time you changed your filter? Have you taken a look at your plugs (they could be old and not firing up to speed)?

When you put the key in and put it to ACC position before cranking do you hear fuel going to the rail? - have someone put the key in this position and listen under the car at the rear and see if you can hear the pump.

Not trying to be a jerk but to properly diagnose a fuel issue this is where I recommend you start.

what are the symptoms of a clogged cat?

Im going to grab a fuel filter for 10$ and throw that sucker in there, the one in there is about two years old.... but ive stored it for the last two winters so maybe that clogged it up....

First start takes awhile to gain pressure.... once its on and i turn it off, and then turn it back on, it fires right up....

sounds like a regulator to me....

If you have a clogged cat you will literally feel like you have about 100whp because the exhaust can't escape... a good way to test this is unplug your O2 sensors so that the exhaust has a place to escape, you should then feel some of the power come back.

Also the temp will get pretty damn hot.
