View Full Version : Edelbrock Intake Fails
If you haven't heard GMHTP dyno tested the edelbrock lt1 intake.
They have internal measurements and dyno results.
Plenum volume= 3670cc (stock) VS 2632cc (Edelbrock)
Runner Length= 2.780in (stock) VS 3.200in (Edelbrock)
Runner Cross-Section
At Gasket = 2.27sqin (stock) VS 2.32sqin (Edelbrock)
At 1.30in = 2.11sqin (stock) VS 2.26sqin (Edelbrock)
At 2.70in = 2.21sqin (stock) VS 2.52sqin (Edelbrock)
Peak HP 350.4 (stock) VS 346.8 (Edelbrock with 48mm) VS 350.3 (Edelbrock with 52mm)
Peak TQ 386.7 (stock) VS 387.7 (Edelbrock with 48mm) VS 391.3 (Edelbrock with 52mm)
Now you must ask yourself, is 4rwhp worth $465?

Someone brought up a good point before though, I think they tested it on regular LT1 heads and its "supposed" to be designed for the Edel RPM heads. So will they gain anything on the next installment with the Edel heads too? You decide...

Wow, that's weak! May do better with the other heads, but how much do those cost?!

Too much for not enough gain :D

The heads are $465? That's not bad...
$465 for intake, $465 for heads....might be worth it

Is it $465 per head? or for both?
Or do you mean the intake itself (never looked either up, never had to lol).

I think he means $465 for the intake. That's what he had listed in the OP
My mistake.
$465 for the intake
$564 PER head

I saw this and was AMAZED that GMHTP actually put forth honest coverage on the product. I think the think hurting the manifold is the lack of plenum volume as compared to the stock manifold. That's a third less volume than stock and it's expected to outperform?? Not likely. I'll stick with my ported LT4.

Well on the test it was with stock heads, so just the 465$ was spent not the extra 1200$ on heads. ;)

When I read about the intakes, I figured you would look more for a torque gain with the longer runners than you would be looking for a horse power gain...but that doesn't seem to be very much of a gain either...stock intake FTW!

I am honestly waiting for the guy that goes by the name "GGPC" on Ls1tech.com, that intake is going to be the stuff... 300cfm right off the bat I think it was? And still can be ported further before you even get it?
I can wait.

Hopefully they'll put that LT1 intake back on with the new heads, run it, then throw the Edelbrock intake back on to see what it does.

I really wish this post would have came up about a month ago or so....:( But anyways it does look nice under the hood but other than that bummer.. I guess I didn't need that money anyways lol.
