I just got my Scanmaster as well as my OBD plug from Andrew at AKM Cables. I hooked up all of the wires correctly, but the Scanmaster was not receiving power from the OBD port. I bench tested the scanmaster and that is working fine. I probed the OBD port and it's not receiving 12v power. It is transmitting the data, however, since I hotwired the scanmaster and it works. My question is, should the OBD port under the dash have a switched 12v source? If so, where should I start checking to see why I am not getting power at the plug? Thanks!

Check your fuses and make sure the fuse isn't blown. Also, I had my cigarette lighter shorting out and causing that fuse to blow. I fixed that by disconnecting the cigarette lighter from the back.

If you already know which terminal is supposed to recieve power, just check the corresponding terminal on the car side of the connector and work your way back from there.

I know which pin is supposed to supply 12v on the vehicle. I was looking for some insight as to where that 12v source comes from...

That 12V source is on the accessory fuse I believe. Does your cig lighter and dome light work?

Yep, both work...
