this looks to be a good converter. any reason why i should spend over double on a tci? or name brand?
and can someone explain why they have a 12" 10" 9.5" 9" converter and what it benefits?

Honestly, Id be leary of it... You get what you pay for. I havent seen too much good out of TCI convertors. If I were you I'd look into a yank or vigilante, possibly even call BTE or PTC and see what they can do for ya. Yeah it'll be more than that particular one but cheaping out is only risking burning it and the tranny up, costing you more than double what a good convertor would.
I'm pretty sure the different diameters have to do with cutting down on rotating mass.

You could try it out for everyone else. :)
Personally, Id be kinda worried about it to. If I had the cash Id buy one for my car, but if your pushin anything over 300-350 horses then Id go with a name brand.

I would go with a name brand one buddy, especially on something as crucial as the converter. The yank converters are nice pieces, and ive personally used a few tci converters without a problem not on lt1s though. You should be fine with any name brand converter.

Remember too, that at one time Yank and TCI weren't name brands. All the companies have to start somewhere.
But on the other hand, the Ebay convertor is a rebuilt/restalled unit. Not a new convertor like you would get from Yank or TCI.

From what I read last night, why are we even talking about TCI? Based on the stuff I read, I'd probably take the risk of an ebay converter over a TCI.

I installed a tci on my wifes camaro....and about three months later i had to rebuild the trans...after that i talk to my tranny guy and i dont know if anyone has every heard of it, but it's called a pro torque. It has a 2800 stall with a 3400 flash. Price wise it wasnt too bad either i think we paid like 600 for the converter. Look in to something like that. We've had it in the car for about 3 years and it feels great. I also believe that the pro torque converters come with non balooning plates so if you ever wanted to run any power adders it would be perfect
