My buddy just bought an orange metallic tiburon. It's not quite SOM, but very similar. Does any one have any suggestions on a wax that would be good for it?

Whats your price range??
For the average stuff you can find at auto zone, You cant ever go wrong with Mothers or Meguiars stuff.
For the expensive stuff, Zaino is by far the best IMO. Nothing beats their polish & sealant.
Heres a SOM Camaro I cleaned with pretty much just Meguiars liquid wax. Its a friend of mines Camaro.

I used to use the meguiars pro stuff (tan bottle) on my camaro. I have a Porter Cable random orbital buffer that i use with the Meguairs. Use a fine cut or clay bar first, follow up with a polish, then a wax. Use the buffer to apply the stuff, it uses much less product that way. I use their buffing pads. You can get all the stuff off their site. My car alwyas looked real good with the Meguiars, but after a few washes i needed to reapply the wax.
last year i washed the whole car down with DAWN dish detergent and applied like 12 coats of Zaino polish and sealant. for the money it gives the best appearance IMHO and it seems to last a lot longer. It is NOT a wax though, you can follow up with a pure carnuba wax i read somewhere, but since my car is in a climate controlled garage, and rarley sees daylight.. LOL.. i just stick with the Zaino Polish and thier spray detailer just before shows and after washes.

Wax quality doesn't vary with color.
If your on a budget Meguiars makes great products. I'd look into the NXT Wax or the three step system.
If money isn't a issue Zaino makes great products as well.

Meguiars or Mothers. 3M is pretty good too. Actually 3M bought Meguiars out recently so I'm guessing eventually both products will be pretty much exactly the same...
