i have a few buddies with mostly stock 5.0 foxbody cars. we have been talkn trash a while now so i finally ran. his car is a 91 lx or close to that, originally a 4banger car with a maf 5.0 mustang motor, stock headers, h pipe i think, light flywheel but otherwise stock with a 5 speed. from a dig he pulled me 2 car lengths from the start all the way thru to about 90 never a change in car lengths. It was kinda funny because halfway thru smoke was pouring out his car. he blew a heater core hose. I would think i should beat him by a few car lengths.
My car has no cat, no smog, no egr, tuned, k&n intake. its a a4. I do seem to have a issue with the car reporting a false knock, but even at the track I ran 14.3 @97mph ( with the knock issue) which should be faster than a 5.0 or is this normal?

That surprises me because I've seen cammed 5.0s run in the 14s at the track. He must be one Hell of a driver. I mean my cousins 04 Monte Carlo kept up with a 93 cobra till the eighth mile. That shows that anything can happen on the street.

I remember back in the day when the 5.0's filled our local track. A good driver in a 5.0 could rip a 9.2-9.3 at our local 1/8th or go to our local 1/4 mile track and run a 14.3-14.4, bone stock, stock street tires. The slower ones or the ones with the bad drivers would be 9.6ish and 14.9ish. An auto would be a 10.1/15 something. If your buddy has some mods and is a good driver, I don't see why he wouldn't run an 8.8 or so and a 13.6. 5.0's are light and with his being a 4cyl car to start with i'm sure it's around 3000lbs.

no spray, i know hes a better driver than me, i let him get the jump on me figuring i would just over take him like when i run 94+ mustangs.
he just did a 1,2,3 count and i left right a second later than him, not much. The joke now is he beat me but i killed his car, lol.
It wasnt even his car I was supposed to run originally, but the other guy broke a clutch cable so i ran this car instead. I know both of them pretty well we go to a car meet weekly. makes me want to gut my car out. I really think somethings wrong with my car to be honest. it feels funny in the lower rpms

he had me by 2 car lengths out of the hole, and never gained on me. basically it looked like a drivers race with 2 even cars. but it seems i should be faster no matter

Ha. That's a lot quicker than the worn out ones I see run around here. I'm thinking about buying one and flipping it or selling it to my brother.

its pretty hard finding a good deal on one thats not beat to shit. ive owned about 7 foxbody cars, I would waste my time tryn to flip one. they arent cheap now days thanks to shows like pinks where every dildo wants a fox to make fast.
on a side note I have a hunch my new opti is going bad!!!!

I noticed. I was supposed to buy an sn95 a couple weeks ago and the lady called me when I was getting ready to leave to go get it. She sold it even though I had contacted her multiple times and she knew I was coming to get it. All of the foxes I find are cammed/modified and I don't want to buy someone's screw up.

im sure you know that the sn95 cars cost twice that of a lt1 car and are alot heavier than a foxbody. I ran one at the track, i ran a mid 14 he ran a low 15 lol those cars get me out of the hole too but i pass them around 78mph at the 1/8th mile

He beat you because he was faster.. It's gonna happen from time to time. For all you know some former owner could have put heads on that thing from a 5.0 explorer (they are almost identical to gt40 heads) and a slew of other fun toys, and it would still look like a stock dirty engine under the hood...

Thats still kinda of odd though. I have a buddy dylan with a 89 5.0 thats carb converted, big cam, LT's, and a few bolt-ons, and before i built my motor my car was just shorty headers and flowmaster exhaust and i would pull about a half a car on it. Guess some cars just run better then others

Heavy pigs? Thats calling the kettle, black. In terms of weight: 4th gen>3rd Gen>Fox GT>FOX LX. You have the 2nd slowest LT1 Z28 (auto/vert slowest) available with a missing problem vs a good running light weight 5spd LX. Seems about right to me.

I was going to say the 5.0 probable came from an explorer they are basicly a cobra motor with a truck cam. but good headers on them and they make 235ish throw 1.6 and a cobra or ho cam and 240 ish should be possiable
