View Full Version : How difficult is port matching?
On my 94 maro, I have already had a little work done to the cylinder heads. the bowls have already been ported, but I dropped the ball on the port matching. Matching the on the intake should be a breeze but how difficult is port matching on a stock LT1 head. I have heard that I have to be careful not to hit a water jacket, but other than that it seems pretty straight forward. any opinions are welcome. If anyone has pics I'd love to see them.
Port matching is pretty easy. I would pickup a set of sanding rolls from eastwood and mark out the gasket on the heads.

Don't port into the head more than an inch or so. Just do the gasket and that is it. Do not go past the gasket. A friend of mine just did this, here are pics so you get the idea.

The heads on the right look like a CNC process was used to port-match those intake runners.

The pictures were just to give Ryle an idea of what it's suppose to look like. I realize that one is cnc.
