96 Z-Ragtop

Hey guys, I'm desperate. I am in the process of puting Bilstein HD front shocks on my Z. In the instruction in the box it says to reuse the spring perch on the old shock. Problem is, the old shock is a KYB and the tube is larger than the Bilstein. The spring perch just flops around. Anybody run across this before, if so how did you rectify? Car is KILLING me.
