and honestly i probably dont know the right way to launch a auto car , but im having scary traction issues and my alignment is good but car doesnt want to go straight when i launch and it goes sideways every time the a4 shifts. its a 94 z28 intake, smog delete tb coolant bypass, walbro 255lph HP, about to gut the cat too. I've had this car a year and i just finally worked all the bugs out i thought. new opti, new water pump, fixed exhaust leak at headers, etc, and then the low fuel pressure issue and man this car has got too much torque to launch without pedalling it!. i just leave it in OD and floor it and hope it stays on the road, and its scarry. so i hear alot of differant things work but i want to know whats the cheapest and start there

loled .... that was really damn funny. oh shit ... better suspension. LCA's, torque arm, pan hard bar, and better shocks and springs

Adjustable lcas and relocation brackets qa1 double adjustable shocks and drag bag for passenger side. Once you have messed with the adjustments on the lca it should hook nasty style

Sounds like a geometry problem. Need to get the rear tires planted on the launch. A decent set of rear shocks and relocation brackets should help out allot. A sticky tire would be a big benefit as well.

yeah i am wondering if I have a bad rear shock and just dont notice it during regular driving

I have everything I put up on my car. but before my car would get nasty side ways when I latched it and after I did that that stuff my car would go straight but rost the tires in a straight line. even on street tire the car tracked straight. Attached a picture of some street tires rosted

whats the drag bag you mentioned?lol nice straight burn out:) I was thinking of seeing how the car will do on a real track today, wonder if i should bother? Or is it going to be just as sketchy on a track meant for drag racing compared to a launch on the street?

Well street is the street. You got rocks and no vht for ur tires to stick to. But a drag bag is a inflatable bag that goes in the middle of ur rear spring. And as u inflate it it will not allow ur car to squat as much on that side. If you have ever notice a camaro or trans am that goes to the track or gets its legs stretched here and there. There passenger side will sag a little because are cars are tq monsters. So all the tq goes to the right rear. Thus car getting nasty. But the drag bag will not allow the car to squat as much all depending on how much u inflate the bag. Summit sells them pretty cheap to

What suspension parts do you have on your car if any? Make sure the rear end is square under the car and nothing is bent. Also make sure tire psi is the same on both sides, I know that sounds basic but start simple! If your testing on the street make sure your on level ground! Once you've got that all figured out this might help you figure out what to do next:

thanks thats some good info. so we have 3 link suspension? wow i thought we had upper controll arms plus lower plus the torque arm. so is the ta set up we have better than one with upper control arms? why did gm go with it? its the same on 3rd gens right?

The TA suspension has characteristics of a 4 link, and ladder bar. A 3 link doesn't have a PHB. Yes, 3rd gens are just like 4th gens as far as the suspension design. I wouldn't say it's better just another design, each has it's own good and bad points. IDK why GM decided to use this setup on F Bodys, I know they're supposed to be good for handling that may have something to do with it.

why did gm go with it?

because they paid a whole room of engineers tons of money to bust out the calculators do some math.

they came back a week later and the CEO saw this

the mini fridge was now cryogenic freezer made from parts of the coffee machine.
the the ceiling fan and a folding chair wheels form the movable TV stand had been combined to make a hooverroud (one guy wanted to see the grand canyon?)
and the chalk board was completely covered as well as the other two and a half walls of room with pens and sharpies.

and in unison they, "DO IT LIKE THIS B!TCH!!!!" then all threw up gang signs that turned out to be from the different math clubs from college.

okay so dumb question, what's a ladder bar? and what is a true 3 link 4 link and 5 link? I have seen some weird stuff over the years and I have always avoided suspension till i started wheeling jeeps. Theres alot more than just power, and right now iI cant get it all to the ground:(

Get a book called "Doorslamers the chassis book" by Dave Morgan. It's older but the physics that occur when torque passes through the chassis of a car haven't changed. He does a good job of expalining how power is transfered and how different suspension setups work with each other. Once you understand it you can apply it to you car. The only negative thing about it is he barley mentions TA suspensions, the principals are all there though.

thanks, my car launches perfect at the track, no issues like on the street. first time out ran a best of 14.3@96mph with a not so good reaction time or 60' but like i said first time, and a stock car. i ran another stock lt1 and we were near even.

Nice, gotta start somewhere I'll warn you now though. Once you start throwing parts at it and going faster it NEVER stops!
