I'm getting fxcked from every angle too man kind trying to replace this clutch in my LT1, i can't seem to find a decently priced "disc" for these stupid pull style PPs, yes i said stupid!! They don't just offer a disc for these cars without sticking it too you, sure the LS1s & older chevy's theres no problem, they are cheap, but they have to hammer you on these cars because some bonehead decided to install a pull style pp instead of just leaving well enough alone, sorry for the rant, but i'm so friggin pissed, i got screwed on a e-bay purchase & got the wrong disc, so i bought a Hays street/strip disc, but its not for an LT1, so i'm out 300.00 bucks & back to square ONE, so let this be a valiab;le lesson to ANY who wants to save money on a clutch change for these LT1s, unless you get one stock from autozone for 220.00, your screwed. So if anyone can PLEASE help me find a half way decent disc. for no more then 200.00. I would really appreciate it!!!

Not to be an a$$hole, but you have only yourself to blame for ordering the wrong clutch. I just ordered a new clutch from Summit, since my old one took a crap. I ordered a RAM Powergrip, cost me $400. My old RAM HDX was great, cost about $320 (but that was over a year ago).

Maybe i do, but this wouldn't have happened if i was told at jegs that this Hays disc was not for the LT1s, plus i also got screwed by a private e-bayer when i bought the 1st. clutch "KIT" that was suppost to be for a the LT1, the PP was right, but the disc. measured 10.4" when i got it, not 11" like it should have been, he now ignores my e-mails & won't respond, so i know he lied about the discription, i don't feel thats my fault, so yes, maybe on the Hays disc. i should have ask in more detail, but most of those guys don't know what there talking about, i myself are new to these cars, this is the ONLY thing i've been having problems with getting the right parts, all the other up-grades i've done have gone just fine, i'll know next time to do more research.

What is the HP level on this Mcleod disc.?, is there others for around the 200.00 range that might be better for street/strip use, i just have bolt-ons, but may run 100 shot every once in awhile, the car does have a moser 9" with 4.11s & hoosier DRs.

I feel you on that, it's why I don't buy stuff off ebay.
When I was researching a clutch to replace my RAM HDX (the pressure plate went out) I was trying to decide between the McLeod disc and a RAM Powergrip. I read a lot of mixed things on the McLeod disc (by the way, there are two, the organic one for stock and the aluminum/kevlar for higher HP), so I decided to go with RAM again.
For your application, I would recommend the RAM HDX. It's rated for cars with bolt-ons. Mine still holds good even after my heads/cam, and it's very streetable once you break it in and get used to it. This is the disc for it:

And here is the McLeod alum./kevlar disc:

From what i see, that Ram 310 doesn't show its for the LT1s in the mid 90s, says its for earlier chevys/pontiacs, plus the price seems too good, the Ram disc. that i was priced for the LT1 was 262.99, just about 100.00 more, i just can't afford that, i personally like the way the Mcleod disc. look, just for a referance, i was under the asumption this car had a Ram clutch in it, thats what the previous owner told me, well come to find out it was the stock original clutch (there again i was lied too), & the car has 159XXX on it, & i was taking it to the track every 2 weeks for some fun & 4K launches on DRs, the clutch always had a smell & slight chattering on take off, stock clutches shouldn't do that unless they are fried, so theres no telling how much it was slipping, even under normal conditions, so i'm sure anything will be an improvement over what i had & should hold up really good, because the stock clutch is organic as they come & it took a 160XXX beating, but i just do need to stay around the 200.00 range, i don't even want to amagine how much the Mcleod 261871 Kevlar disc. is, they don't even show a price lol.

sorry but clutches aren't cheap and you shouldn't be expecting to be cheap on such an important part of the driveline... and i hope you plan on spending another 250-350$ on a flywheel also

I already have a flywheel, i understand the exspence, but i don't feel we should be charged more (which we are) for the disc., i can see the PP being more, i just needed to vent some.
Now that i see at least 3 options on the organic discs, what would you guys prefer?? The flywheel is a stock reman. & the PP is 10% stronger then stock, would i be better off with organic or the Kevlar??

$200 for a good clutch is really pushing it. I don't know of one that's out there right now. Does $200 even get you a OEM quality replacement clutch? Not trying to bust your bubble, but I really wouldn't reccommend going and getting the cheapest clutch you can get. Clutches (non-performance especially) can wear very quickly if given alot of abuse. You'll really be saving money in the long-run if you drive your car hard. Besides that, who wants to do another clutch install when be doing something else had you done it right in the first place.
I've had my RAM HD in my car for about 2.5 years now, and it doesn't see too many easy miles. I'm really surprised how well it has held up. Mods are in the sig.
Spec makes good clutches, if you don't mind spending the money. That's where my money will be spent when this one checks out.

I know i screwed up, i'm paying for it now, i want to stay away from the Puck style disc., this stock clutch finally gave up after 159K miles, sure it still worked, but the chatter was getting bad, plus it started slipping under track launches with Hoosier DRs, so if stock style clutches are not so good, i give this one a super A++++ for what its been through, check it out, 159000 miles & 4-5K dumps on DRs & it held for at least 20 passes like this, i didn't exspect this clutch to start slipping because i was under the impression it was a Ram Kit & was replaced not too long ago, thats what the previous owner told me, & money right now is beyond tight, it like doesn't exist for any fixes on this car, so i was stuck, i found a new 6 Puck style race clutch kit from a private owner for 200.00 BIN, i took the chance & bought it, low & behold i got taken from this guy, IF i would have known this would have happened, i would've bought something else & spent the 400.00+. I was going to do like others have done (by a clutch kit from autozone) & then get an aftermarket disc. after looking into that idea, it wouldn't pay off, so i scratched that thought. I've heard too many horror stories about Spec clutches to even consider them, but all said & done, the Hays is going back at Jegs exspense, there waveing the handling fee on the Centerforce disc. thats coming, it was 199.99, i'm sure this set up will work fine, there will be no more 4K launches, maybe not even see anymore track time, just street cruiseing, i can't afford to have this happen again lol.

Got the Centerforce disc. today, it looks great, it is .065" thicker then the worn out stock disc., i have a feeling that old clutch was slipping alot more then i thought.

stop bitching about cost...you have the right to when you finally go through a few and realize most wont get you what you want. SO check out the one i have in my car, then you have the right to complain about the cost! http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MCL-74022-1A-07&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Where did this come from, who cares if YOU want to shell out 1400.00 for a clutch kit, thats your choice, all i did was say i picked up a centerforce disc., then the trashing still continous, if i had that kind of money lying around, i probably still wouldn't buy something that exspensive, do you know how many won't even think of spending 2300.00 on a 9" rearend, but i did just 2 months ago, so in no means am i cheap, just broke at the moment with a fried clutch!!

Its cool, well i fired it up & all seems good, clutch feels smooth, no harsh peddle, now to just button up the exhaust & a few minor things, i'll take it for a test drive tomorrow.
Beliieve me, i know what its like to spend money on cars, i had around 14000.00 in my 10 second Duster, & it still had the original paint, & that was just one of the many cars i've dumped $$$$ into, that was just the most exspensive one, but man was it a blast, i'm already up over 8000.00 in this camaro, & i bought it back in march lol.
