Where/who has the lowest cost on an aftermarket rear end?

Right now I am looking at MW chasis just because they come with a torque arm. I am trying to see if I can find one either a 12 bolt/9 inch or S60 for $2000 or less.

If your car is a more serious street/strip car and doesn't see rain, then do not hesitate to get yourself a spooled rear. A spool will instantly save you $400 off of the price compared to a posi equipped rear, and it will weigh 35-40lbs less. My S60 was $1899 with some upgrades but my price was with a group buy.

I called MWC to buy an S60 and when it was all done I ended up with their 9" and rear suspension components. Unless you go used I don't think you'll find a better deal than MWC. Especially after you factor in a third member, TA, LCA's, PHB, and the simplicity of a true bolt in setup. I know the cost seems high but after shopping around and piecing a suspension together MWC was the cheapest with the best parts for my intentions with the car.

MWC is a fucking joke. Trust me, they will bull shit you on delivery times. Probably take you 6 months to get it, and when you do it will be wrong and then their customer service will SUCK!

That said, I think they build a badass rear, its just not worth it. I've watched 3 of my friends go through heck with them and its not worth it.

I called Strange and got a S60 optioned exactly how I wanted and it was quoted to ship in 10 days. It shipped in 8 and was exactly what I ordered when it arrived.

Wow sounds like your friends had a pretty bad experiance. I'll say it did take longer than orignially promised to get my housing (about a month past the 8 week ETA) but I expect that when ordering a built to order part from a one man shop. He also had an issue with the powder coating on my housing that caused a delay since it was sent back to be recoated. What was wrong with the rears your friends ordered? Every time I call Eric he is polite and awnsers my questions, he also responds to emails by the next day. Maybe I'm just lucky, I got mine back in 2008 when he was really getting popular. It's possible his work load has surpassed what a one man shop is capable of doing in a day causing his service to suffer. Not trying to make excuses for him just sucks to hear a company that is capable of building a nice product for a reasonable price not being able to kep customers happy.:(

FWIW the S60 is a nice bulletproof unit!

When I ordered my S60 I went in with 5 other guys. A total of 6 rears were purchased and all of them were very different. 4 had spools, one was narrowed, 4 had bigger axles, etc, etc. We got ours about a month later all on one huge pallet, each one bolted down in its own little fixture. Strange was very good to deal with imho.

When you installed the S60, was it a direct bolt on or was there any work that needed to be done?
I wouldnt mind an S60 and at 1900 thats perfect but I guess I need a buy in.

I used a lift at my friends shop. I had the old one out and the new one in in about 1.5 hours. Plug and play, zero fitment issues. The driveshaft is shorter with the S60 though. Goog thing that Denny's Driveshaft is literally 5 minutes from me though, lol. $400 later I had a monster chromoly nitrous ready ds here.

Here's a bulletproof 12-bolt from a racecar for $1200. 40 spline axles are strong as hell. He's in Florida and won't ship. Give him a ring:
