How much are used LT1 engines going for these days?

I'm looking to buy a new, but used engine (yeah.. A new used engine :laugh:) possibly over the winter, and am just kinda curious to see what the prices of used LT1 engines age going for. I'd like to get one that has between 70,000 and 80,000 miles on it, and is in very good condition. I'm not looking to buy at this exact moment, but hopefully sometime soon and this thread is not intended to be a classifieds thread.

I've been searching around and am only finding engines & Transmissions for sale, but since my transmission only has 20K on it and works great, I dont see any need to replace it.

So that being said, what am I looking to spend on a stock, used LT1 motor with 70,000 - 80,000 miles on it?

Although I dont have an exact answer for you, I would check ebay for like local sales (getting that shipped might cost you) or if you have a local classifieds paper like an Auto Locator (thats the east coast version) And check all the ls1/lt1 forums in the classifieds. Just my suggestions.

a few years ago i spun a bearing in my Z and i needed a motor quickly that i could depend on and or have a good warranty so i found

I went through the same thing when I blew my original motor. I paid $700 for one with 60K on the clock. Came with harness and was complete from the oil pan to the air filter. It took me about 2 weeks to find it.

I would check local F-body forums if possible, as well as Ebay if you can find someone that will ship. I wouldn't even think about spending over $1,000 for one. $1200 would be my max if it came with a good trans. The motors are out there, just be patient and you'll get a good deal.

Salvage yard should probably be your last resort. Last I knew the one in Tulsa that deals with late-model F & Y bodies wanted $1300 for a complete LT1 and around $2600 for an LS1. That's a little ridiculous when you can find them locally or on Ebay, but people pay it.

I have one with Tranny T56. If you just want the motor 650 plus any paypal fee's and she is yours. Has a brand new Thermo, Opti, and everything from the IM down. I believe it was 95k on the clock.

There is one on ebay with 50mi for 2700.00! It's out of a 94 z28.
