i'm thinking different rear shocks and take out the drag bag, was curious what you guys with low 60' times think? this launch netted a 1.57 60'. would really like to be in the 1.40's so i can bust out some 11.20's and then spray it. she is deff gonna have to launch better than this to leave on the nitrous.

Looks good. Any tire spin?

Did you try varying the pressure in the drag bag(s) at all and where that got you?

no spin that i could tell of really, was just looking at the pictures and noticed that my rearend never squats, it appears to be the same height from stage to after the 60' which seems to me may be killing some weight transfer to the rear?

never did mess with the bag, i had no idea it was not squating at all untill i seen these pics the next day. i may leave it in and try lowering the pressure in it. right now it has 6lbs in it. what rear shocks are you using?

Me lol? I haven't even been to a track in uhm... shit 6 years haha.

Best I've heard and what I'll eventually put in is QA1 adjustables. if there is only 6psi in there I'd honestly see what it would do with nothing in it just to see if it squats...

If you really wanted an answer I have some basic bilsteins in my car with 18yr old stock springs... looks lowered, not lowered lol

On the other hand, how much are you going to spray?

You seem to be having no problem at all hooking as I see it. If you have a progressive controller you can slowly try to step up the shot on the launch and see what it can take.

A lot of times, the car simply doesn't have the power to 60ft much better if you're hooking so well and if you're just hooking and going with no spin then it's possible your 60ft can't get much better without more power. So your suspension is working as is, your car just may need more power to see better 60fts. You can always just put a 50 or 75 shot in and spray the launch and see what the 60ft does. If you're still hooking, step it up higher.

Until your car shows that it wont hook, I wouldn't worry about it. No need to spend money and change your suspension if you just haven't tried it yet, you never know you may be surprised at what it does.

PS it would help to know more in terms of gears, tire size, transmission (trans brake?), launch rpms

old thread whatever.....

get a video from a 3/4 view at bumper level. No way to tell what the chassis is doing from the pics you posted. If you're doing 1.40s you'll need a bag or anti-roll bar, should be twisting pretty good. You don't want any squat in the rear, that means the chassis is not moving forward and you're taking hit off the tire.

What tire, rear shocks, and converter are you running? I'd put a front shock in it before a rear shock if you're still on the stockers. Rollbar and anti-roll bar will be a big help to drop down in/past the 1.40s.

It's not that you're making too little power, you're just not getting it to the tire effeciently enough. AKA chassis/suspension flex, crappy converter/trans, not enough gear.

I've seen many <400 hp cars do 1.40s and even 1.30s, but they are setup to be very effecient.

thanks for the advice, apperciate it!

i do have a bag in it now, with the stock springs. would deff like to go to a anti-roll bar for sure. i am running M/T et street radials 275/50r15's. my rear shocks are Competition Engineering C2710, so i'm sure there killing me bad, and i have a pro edge 4400 converter and 3.73 gears. i also have the qa1 singe adj front shocks with there 275lbs spring, aswell as a spohn rear 25mm solid swaybar. umi tunnel mount adj torque arm and poly bushed tubular lwr a arms and slp double diamond sub frame connectors. the trans is an ATI TH400 rmvb. and i have a S&W 6 point weld in roll bar.

the car is fairly light, 3100lbs with an 1/8 tank of fuel. never been dynoed, but using a few of the on line 1/4 calculators it appears with me in the car weighing in at 3300lbs i should be around 420hp. the car does launch nice and straight when it hooks and pulls the 1.5x 60' times. i was just wrong in my thinking that i needed to see some squat to better my short times. i will see if i can get someone to stand behind the car and get the 3/4 view for you this friday.

my t/arm is set at -2* also.

thanks agian!

ok you're farther along suspension wise than I thought which is good. Do you have relocation brackets on the rearend? I'd start with more anti-squat in the rear and relocation brackets is the easiest way to get it. What are your front shock settings? Start at 0 and tighten the shock until your 60' falls off. Basically you're LIMITING the weight transfer for less body movement and more chassis movement forward down the track until you reach the limit of the tire. Leave your tire pressure constant while you're making these changes, and record the data from the passes so you can see small (~.005) positive or negative changes in your 60' and 330'. Remember especially when you start spraying, you might 60' quicker but 330' SLOWER if your chassis settings aren't working after the 60' mark, which can happen when you start running 10 seconds or faster.

On a side note, if you can get a nicer HD camera that has a higher FPS then you can really slow the video down and see what the car is doing. I think my digital camera does 60 fps or so which works fine.
