So I have been waiting to work on my camaro. I don't have it at home because I wasn't allowed to at teh time, so I had to leave it at my mechanic's house to work on it. Well, sometime last week. The car was stolen... He assumed I had just had it towed home while he was away. OH but it gets better. Because I don't have the title in my name, the police will not file a report for the car. So I have to pay for the title to a car that was stolen, and file it and HOPE that the saginaw police dept. actually finds it.

Even worse, my mech. roommate had his 69 chevy truck stolen from the same place last november.

I have no clue what to do, do I spend the money to transfer the title, when I already barely have anything, or do I just cut my lose? I don't have a job at the moment, so I'd be literally spending that last of what I have for god knows how long.

Why wasn't the title in your name to begin with? I don't know what to tell ya. Maybe the mechanic is having cars jacked?

the title wasn't in my name yet because I was getting my wife's taken care of first. I have had trouble getting ahold of the guy since he forgot to sign one part of the damn form, they wanted me to get him to sign it first. looking back on it now, I should have just forged the damn thing.

Sounds like the mech is running a chop shop of sorts.. first his rommate truck then ur car and then he "forgets to sign" a part of the tittle?? Lil fishy to me

The previous owner is going to the cop station with me. Since they were going to do anything, I put up some ads on craigslist at least. I got an email saying it is at the impound lot that saginaw uses. There was a guy who was getting his car and says he saw it there, I am going to call and check it out tomorrow.

Thanks I am going to need it. the situation just gets werider and weirder though. I had another person reply telling me about a guy dumping the car because he mistakenly repossed it and freaked because he didn't want to think it was stolen, which makes it worse because I am somewhat of a forgiving guy, and could understand, but the level of detail he knew was a bit unsettling.

my 1994 Teal Camaro z28 was taken from 800 McLeroy,Saginaw tx. It was being worked on here. The car has faded paint on the top of the spoiler and damage to the rear passenger side quater panel, as well as aftermarket rims.
The car went missing sometime after March 14,2011. The starter was out and the engine had a spun bearing knock so it had to have been towed in order to have been taken. it had an aftermarket exhaust, ebay C.A.I, MSD 6AL, pacesetter headers and various other aftermarket parts.
