I spent all day yesterday watching qualifying, and I'm heading out now for a late start at watching the Eliminations. I'll report back on results if there's any interest in it hear.
I tell you what though, those stock suspension drag radial cars are getting really damn fast. With the #1 qualifier (Tony Ridenhour) posting a 4.7x at 17X mph in the 1/8!!!!! The outlaw 10.5 guys were just barely faster, with most posting slower mph (the average 10.5 car was running 160-165mph
This is a huge event for that drag radial cars, with two 32 car qualified fields. The top 32 cars are running for a $15,000 purse and the slower 32 are going for a $2,000 purse. This is the only event I've ever been to that had the biggest purse reserved for the drag radial cars. With all the class purses together their is a total of $200,000 up for grabs this weekend.
Among the top qualifiers are some names that most here should know. Madman, Brady, and Tom Kempf to name a few. But the number one qualifier is a local FL guy with his 632c.i. F3R blown 97 camaro.
I stayed at the track untill 1:30am or so partying with all the guys. This included rental golf cart muddin in one of the fields by the track, and me and a friend hangin off the back of Madman's rental cart making it do wheelies all the way down pit road. After this, I realized why he got the nickname of Madman. And I'm about positive that it not because of him driving fast cars :)
Anyway, headin out soon to go see the eliminations. Will try to post results when I get home.
