So is there anything special I need to know about removing the door panel? I see a screw down in the bottom of the map pocket and a screw in the plastic around the door-handle. Any others I need to look for and does the rest of it just snap into place with some sort of clips? Any special tools needed?

Can the wires to the lock and window switches be un-hooked?

Thanks.

Everything will be able to unplug. Shouldn't have any problems there.

It's been a while since I have had a door panel off, so I'm trying to tell you the best I can from what I remember.

2 big screws kinda by the handle need to come out. There's a screw holding the mirror bezel piece that has to come off. Other than that, I think there's 2 small screws in the panel if I remember right. They should be up around the door/window switches. That's the best I can remember.

The biggest PITA of it is the door lock. The little thing that slides and has the orange stripe on it. Door lock indicator maybe? Whatever they call it, it can be a pain. Just pay attention and take your time when dealing with that.

You should be able to pop the door/window switch bezel and unplug everything, take the mirror bezel off, and with all the screws out, you should be ready to take it off. There's just hooks built onto the panel that fit in to hold it on. It's not really hard at all, just be patient with it. Check and double-check when re-installing as to not break any of the clips. Alot of people break those when they're being to rough with the panel and trying to make it fit. It should fit back in very easily if you're watching what you're doing. Of course, it's going to be a lot bigger pain the first time you do this, so keep that in mind. Trust me, it gets easier.

No specialty tools needed unless you're doing this to replace the window motor. Even then, you don't need them until you're ready for the motor swap.

6 screws total is what needs to come out. There are 2 big screws in the door handle. There are 2 smaller screws that hold the small window/lock switch panel (one behind the actually lever to open the door and one on the forward part of the handle. Kinda gotta look around to see it.) There will also be another large screw on the forward part of the door handle (again, kind gotta look around to see it). Lastly there is 1 screw in the little triangular panel up forward of the window. Be careful when you put that one back on as it cracks easily.

Also, to pull the door panel out you will need to lift it up and and then out. Hope that helps. And like Tyler said, be careful reinstalling this stuff. The old plastic is brittle and can break pretty easy.

use a puddy knife(preferably plastic) to push all the clips up on the bottom of the door pannnel. there are also clips in the middle of the panel and the top of the panel kinda hangs on the door by the window. those just have to be lifted off once you push up the bottom with the puddy knife. i have replaced the door motors in two of my camaros so i pretty much have it all figured out by now. the panel around the door lever has to be turned after popped off in order to get off of the lever.
