Ok guys in anticipation of the 2011 ltx shootout and the OCMD car cruises, im wanting to do some front end work to my car (as far as suspension) to make it hook up a little better for drag racing. I have no interest in taking turns on the weekend, I wanna go fast and straight haha but still make it able to go for a 100 mile cruise without having to fight the car the whole time. I have almost every aftermarket rear suspension piece that they make and im running a MT et street drag radial. I want to keep my AC and all the accessories the car currently has, as well as the bumper support and the rack that is in the car. What would be a good budget friendly setup for the front end?. Granted weight removal is the cheapest and easiest thing you can do to pick up a few tenths but I love when a car runs a respectable time and still has all the interior and AC. Enough babbling, give me suggestions!!!!!!!!

What kinda budget do you have? I would start with a good set Of DA shocks and 300# springs like AFCO or Strange.

Well i am on a budget, i just didnt really esatblish it yet. More of a best bang for the buck type setup. Id probably start with just shocks and springs, the fastest it wil be (the car) while I have it will probably be high to mid 11's, and thats not what its currently capable of, thats just a personal goal. I have never been to the track, so I really have no idea what the car is capable of as it sits.

What AC said and loose the front sway bar. Light weight wheels would also help.

Strange SA shocks are nice and a lot cheaper, but youll be pissed you didnt get the good stuff down the road.

Yeah I dont mind spending the money for good parts up front, Id prefer to do that than buy stuff twice. Thanks for your input guys, and yeah the sway bar will be coming off and wheels ill be doing down the road, although I have compared the current TSW wheels I have on my car against the jeg star wheels and they seem to be lighter.

don't need a DA on the front, just get a QA1 "R" coilover. I would however definitely pony up for some afco DAs in the rear. Best things you can do in the front end otherwise are rod ended control arms, drag brakes, and no sway bar.

btw, I ran 1.45 60' on bone stock front suspension, only QA1 Rs and a 275# spring. That was on my 3rd pass in this car, it has high 1.30s all day with tuning easily.

Ok man that's good to know I'm probably just going to remove the sway bar and do the springs and the qa1 r's. What lb spring should I run for a pretty much full weight car?
