What does it protect? if i needed to pull it off for a day or two would it cause any harm?

You talking about the plastic cover over the cables?? I haven't run that in years if that helps.

no i already pulled those off when i first got her. i mean the one on the top that had the 6 torq screws in it. i see ones at ws6 store made out of metal with a design in them. and i want to etch mine.

I wouldn't drive it without that plate on there.

It shouldn't hurt anything as long as you have done the TB bypass. The passages under the plate are for the coolant. So if there is not coolant there shouldn't be a problem.

i want to ither put a bird on it or LT1. i haven't decided yet. and i can use the laser ether at work so it looks pro.

Actually I believe those open op to an air passage IIRC. I would definitely NOT run without that on the car.

might just have to drive up to work pull it off for a few hit it real quick and then put it on before i go home. and keep it covered up with something else until i put it back on

i took mine off without changing hte gasket is that bad? and to the op dont drive without it lol.

I pulled mine to install my airfoil. The truck was in pieces at the time.... I really don't remember if I put a gasket back or not... I should check :D
I remember it being slightly oily... but if nothing else, it has a gasket... that means you shouldn't run without the piece itself. :D
If nothing else see if you can grab a stock one somewhere while you work on yours
