I bought a pos DD for the winter. The rocker panels are pretty much rusted out. How can I go about doing some ghetto ass repair?
My idea is fill it with that foam shit(great stuff) then bondo over it and spray paint it with either dupli color spay paint or just rubber undercoating?
I know its ghetto but i really dont care about the car just want it to look alittle better.

cut it out, make a patch panel, and use a combination of duct tape and jb weld:metal:
but no really your idea you have going sounds pretty good.

I used aluminum ducting tape on a few places on my winter beater. :D

Ghetto?? Plywood!
+1
I saw a grand am with plywood for the rear passenger window. He skrewed it in and everything. I'd give it a solid B+ on the "ghettoness scale". It actually looked like he put some effort into it and made some halfway decent cuts. I was almost going to say an A, but it was too clean for that.
Bondo might work. Do you have any pics of the area you are talking about?

Ive used spray foam a few time just let it set up then use i 60 grit sand disc to shape coat with filler sand and paint. Or use tiger hair spead it on a plastic bag and tape in place then remove plastic bag when tiger hair has set.

Ok so the running boards were pretty bad. Bad enough the bottom was almost totally rusted out and the foam wouldnt stay up:laugh:. So im thinking wtf :confused:can i do to hold it in??? Ah ha.....Ill duct tape it and then fill it. So I put some duct tape along the rocker panels, looked good:jest: so I just added a couple more layers then used some rubberized undercoating to cover it up.:secret: Looks great:claps:!!!!!!!!!:jest::jest::jest:
Ill get some pics of the beater soon.
Oh ya I named it too. Its such a POS and its white, so I call it the toilet.

Ghetto?? Plywood!
Yep, most ghetto right there....
Doesnt get much worse than that, seen it too....
AC your first idea was pretty good, that would stop the rust for the time being and give it a better look depending on how much work you want to do making it perfectly smooth.

I actually tried doing this with an old Cutlass that I had. It works, but only lasts 2-3 months tops. Vibrations and such make it break up. I had a huge hole in the rocker panel tho, so you may have better luck
