Does anyone know a good place to get my LT1 dyno tuned in Missouri? I'm about 50 miles from Kansas City and trying to figure out if there is anywhere around here to get it done or if I'm going to have to load up the car and find somewhere else to have it done. Thanks!

I know there's a guy in KC who's pretty popular with some guys in Ft. Wayne if that says anything.......I'll see if I can't dig his info up for find someone that know for you.

Sean, the guy you are thinking about is a really good tuner, but I think he specializes in FI LS1 stuff. Check with Nate and see if he would be good for an (I am assuming) NA LT1 tune.

I am planning on running nitrous....I don't know if I will have that put on when I finish the engine or if I will add it later after giving the engine some break in time. The engine is built for it though, all forged, the cam is for nitrous, and I gapped the rings for it. So it will happen, whether that ends up being part 1 of this build or part 2 is yet to be determined. I guess if there is no one around that can do a nitrous tune then that will pretty much make up my mind as to when I will add it. lol

The guy Fastbird is talking about is really good, I just don't know if he does LT1's with your setup. If either Fastbird or I find out he does tuning for your setup, I would really reccomend him because I have heard nothing but praise about him.
To a lesser extent, I know Speed Inc. can tune your setup. But the guy in KC is really good.

Good deal! Hopefully you guys can find the info and he does LT1 tuning. If not, I'll probably have to use a mail order tune to get me by until I can get something else figured out.

Alright, I found that the guy in KC no longer does tuning for some reason. Maybe he retired?
Anyways, what about taking it to Ed Wright in Tulsa Oklahoma? Ed is a very knowledgeable guy that I know for a fact does a ton of LT1 stuff.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I think Ed Wright is looking pretty promising there in Tulsa. Plus I have a friend that just got stationed at Altus so that gives me an excuse to go visit, so win win!

Anyways, glad you got someone to go to.

Also, if you're not too far from St. Louis, Performance by Joe (Joe Donovan) is there and only charges $400 for a full tune. He's the one that did my TT Vette.

Yeah I was looking at that. From where I am in Missouri (by Whiteman) it's about 4 1/2 hours to Tulsa according to Google maps and it's about 8 to Altus so I'm over half way there at that point. What sq are you in? My friend is in LRS. We worked in VM together at a couple bases then I cross trained into CS.

I think that St. Louis is around 3 1/2 hours from here. I guess I'm about centered from anywhere that tunes our cars. I kind of figured it was going to be that way given the fact that to shop anywhere other than Wal-Mart, I'm driving 50 miles to KC. lol

Tulsa is in the top right corner of OK (much closer to Missouri) and Altus is in the bottom left. So, are you just driving to see your buddy to say hi? I guess I was wondering why drive all the way out to Altus since its not on your way and on the other end of the state. Anways, I am here, and have my Formula in my sig with me. If you do swing out to Altus, give me a shout and I can say "hi" and check out your car.
LRS = Logistics Readiness Squadron? I really don't know. I am in the 97th TRS for KC-135 pilot training. My officers quarters are right across from the gym if you swing out. Other than a really beat down Patriot Red metallic Trans Am, I have not seen any LT1's on base. There are is a clean 1st gen Firebird, and a beatup looking 2nd gen Camaro, and about a billion new mustangs, but not anything much.
Anyways, I think Ed Wright is an excellent decision. Out of all the names mentioned, he is the most knowledgeable and has been around tuning LT1's forever.

I just figured that I would be half way there at that point. I'd probably just take some leave when I go there and hang out a couple days, drink some beer, and see what he is working on since he always has some project in the works.
LRS is Logistics Readiness Sq. I'm not too familiar with the base other than the limited things to do around it. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find. As for the LT1 count, here at Whiteman it's pretty limited. There are a couple Camaros running around and as you said the dime a dozon new mustangs. For as many as there are driving around, you would think that they get issued in basic now. lol Off base there are a few LT1s and LS1s that show up when the college students are around for school. That's when you see the majority of them.
I'm glad that either way I have a 3 or 4 hour trip to get it tuned. I was worried that it was going to be a lot worse than that....

There is a Dyno in Lees Summit off 291 which would be about 30 mins from you, but I use Revline Motors in Downtown KC. Call Chuong @ (816) 221-4411

I cross trained just about 4 years ago. The VM world is so small though I still know a fair amount of people. I was stationed at Whiteman when I was in VM and then ended up back here when I crosstrained (5 years later). There are still a lot of people here that were here when I was the first time. Most of the guys I worked for are civilians working in the shop now or mowing grass for CE. So when ever I get jobs over there I usually hang out for a bit and bs with everyone.
I only know of my one friend and his family at Altus, and my supervisor from CS here at Whiteman was command leveled to Tinker. I don't think I know anyone else at those two bases.
So how long have you been in VM? I have been through the Tinker area but never stopped on the base. The area looked like it had a lot more to do than the Whiteman area. Did you have it on your dreamsheet, or did they pick it for you?

for me, just shy of 5 years and Tinker will be base #4. i have been moving around way too much! lol Tinker really was not on my dream sheet but when my overseas returnee window came up it seemed like the best choice, since i can get away from the LRS BS for a few years. (Combat comm support unit). I just talked to a few people i know and i ended up going where i wanted to.
