I have had that problem before,I filled up the tank and drove pretty fast down a winding road.So now I just fill the tank until the pump clicks one time and stop.

There is a white/gray thing that has a hose that goes to your gas tank. You will see it if you look underneath and follow the fuel lines from the tank. I believe its a pressure relief valve. On my last fuel tank setup, before I swapped in a LS1 tank, I had a Walbro in a metal tank with the line capped where the relief valve was. Always had that hissing sound when opening the gas cap after a drive. Ended up burning up the fuel pump in only 200 miles. In other words, if that valve thing fails or doesn't function correctly then it could be very hard on your fuel pump. Anyways, should be able to buy the part from a GM dealership for maybe $30. Its very easy to replace so its at least worth trying to see if it fixes the problem.

Here's the purge solenoid as seen on shbox.com. (It's coming in small so click to see detail.) It is located on the passenger side of the intake manifold.

X 2. Verify you have the charcoal canister and it's operational. It vents excess fuel vapor/pressure safely into the motor.
