Since so much has been written about these upgrades (with very little info), I'm asking who has done it. Or tried it. Or maybe knows what all is needed to be done.

I've done the LS1 upgrade with the old LGMotorsports Big Brake upgrade. I want at least a 4 pot caliper and maybe 14" rotors. Anyone know about brackets? Does any of the new cailpers just bolt up?

Lots of questions......

What size wheels do you have? I'd suspect that with the CTS-V and 2010+ Camaro SS front brakes, you'd need ATLEAST 18" wheels, and that's assuming you have the perfect offset/wheel/tire sizes.

I'm assuming you don't care about racing at the track, because there's no way you'll fit a 15" wheel on it. IIRC, a lot of people go with the LS1 brake upgrade instead of the C5 brake upgrade so they can run 15" wheels at the track.

I've got 18"s on it right now. I've got skinnies for the front, so I should be outside of the brakes with a spacer

I love road racing and AutoX more than drag racing

So you already have the C5 Brake upgrade? A good site for you would be frrax.com

Yeah, I guess it is a C5 kit. I was told that its a C5 Z06, but I'm unsure

What does the C5 brake upgrade have over the LS1?

The stock LS1 has a 12" rotor, I believe. I've got a 13" rotor on mine. Drilled and slotted also

Get Z06 Rotors with CTS-V Calipers and Hawk Racing pads and youll be good to go... as long as you have LS1 spindles and new brake lines youll be fine and if you have 18's even better with 17's youll need spacers

As soon as I get home, I'll be getting that kit.

Anyone know anyone who sells slotted rotors instead of cross drilled, cheap?

Only thing I'd add to your list is getting stainless brake lines. People tend to forget how much of a difference this addition can make.

First off to the original question, definatly don't go with the C6 Z06 brakes. You can pick them up cheap, but theres a reason. If you do some research you'll find that there are TONS of complaints by the C6 Z06 guys about them. Their stopping power is weak, if you want to replace the pads there are 6 individual ones to deal with, they have a very poor caliper design ect. The only thing they might be good for is looks. Speaking of looks, cross drilled, OR slotted rotors will do nothing to help you stop either. They look good (so good I even have them), but they will not yeild any positive effect for braking what so ever.

I have heard of some people trying the CTS-V brakes, but haven't heard their results. I personally would love to see someone try the 10 Camaro brakes on a 4th gen. They should stop great, and they definatly are sick looking.

I have an older style of Baer brakes on my 95 Z in my sig, and I love them. They are a HUGE improvement over stock braking, and they outperform by far any C5 or LS1 brake upgrade. But people are right on fitting skinnies up front with upgrading to bigger brakes. Most 17's won't fit (18's do), and you can forget about skinnies even with spacers. I have tried 6 different kinds of skinnies with almost every spacer combo available and none will clear my brakes. And I have only the large Baer 2 piston brakes, not the larger 4 piston ones. Someday, I would like to upgrade and go all out on some 6 piston Baers. I have already given up on trying to find anything to take to the track that works well up front, which really sucks sometimes because my car performs amazing on the street (I have beaten a car that ran 10.1 in the 1/4), but my best time at the track is a low 11. Its not that I can't hook up, its that because of the travel on the big wheels and tires up front I can barely keep the thing straight and it kills my times even with 1.5 60' times (not too shabby for a M6).

Anyways, I hope this helps you in your decision.
