I know...many exhaust threads, but why not start a new one right???

Currently running 1 3/4" LTs/ORY/into a stock WS6 catback with cutout and Hooker Aerochamber in place of stock muffler.

I like the sound the aerochamber makes. I like the cutout for the track (when on slicks/stripped/etc). However, I really want true duals.

So...i've read for years that 1 single 3" outflows dual 2.5". I'm not an engineer so I don't really understand how 5" of total flow doesn't outflow a single 3" but its been said over and over.

I'm on 28's now so running a TD setup would be more doable w/ more ground clearance.

Any suggestions? I want to keep it legal w/ mufflers (not sure if bullets count as mufflers in true street drag classes). I'd love to have 1 7/8 headers, but that ain't in the stars right now.

Thanks ahead of time!

LPPs LTs are great and cheap. Im about to get rid of my TDs, they are way way too loud on the street. I think Im gonna go with a 4" mufflex system

mufflex seems to come up anytime a TD convo is started. Do you think your TD setup is too loud because of it dumping under the car (assuming there's no tail pipes)? I'm spoiled to being able to close the cutout and roll by the cops through the aerochamber, but i know that 2.75" system restricting me...

Its just crazy loud and WOT is asking for every cop with in 5miles to look for me. Partly because its dumped but I dont think running it out the back would be much better.
Mufflex will tuck up better and quite the car down.

Hey I didn't know you were on here.

I seen your "thunderchicken" plenty of times on the interweb. Looks like a pretty sweet ride

There is no way a single 3" will out flow dual 2.5" pipes.

I have dual 2.5" dumped with bullets now and it works and sounds great but it's too loud in the car for my wife and I haven't even attemped to put my 2.5 year old in the backseat.

I am switching to a custom 4"/mufflex type system.

your set up in this video sounds wicked.

that's with the cutout open before the 2.75" catback has a chance to squeeze it. Don't get me wrong, I love the ability to go from cutout to stealth through the catback. I really don't know what to do because my boys do ride in it and I don't want a cop magnet. But I'd hate to know how much power I lose based on this chart because it appears I need at least 3.5" single, really need 4" single or at least the 2.5" duals, really 3" duals:

From LT1engine.com...

"The most common question is 2.5″ or 3″ true duals, and here is your answer.
A 2.75” (stock) single system is good for a 310hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” Single system is good for a 370hp engine with zero loss…
A 3.5” Single system is good for a 503hp engine with zero loss…
A 4” Single system is good for a 657hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.25” dual system is good for a 457hp engine with zero loss…
A 2.5” dual system is good for a 513hp engine with zero loss…
A 3” dual system is good for a 812hp engine with zero loss…"
