I know a popular mod for the ltxs is to change out the MAF for a Pro M or Granatelli unit. If you do this DO NOT throw the old MAF away as long as it works. Instead put it up on ebay or try to sell it to the DSM (Eclipse/Talon/Laser) guys. Many of them running a turbo setup use the OEM GM 3.5 MAF. So instead of letting it take up space in the garage, sell it.

Yeah just an idea to make a couple bucks for other mods.

...or keep it in case you plan on having more mods later and are gonna want/need a tune. I hear the tuner will thank you ;)

... because you will be putting it back on after you find out the aftermarket ones are POS's. :jest:

Yeah, you guys beat me to it. Dont go changing those MAFs guys unless its TOTALLY worth it (As in, youve maxed out the stocker. VERY hard to do).

I dont want to see 10,000 threads here like on LS1tech.com that state "Just changed my MAF, now the car runs like total crap. HELP!"

I maxed mine out a LONG time ago.... still running it. IMHO, there is absolutely NO reason to put anything other than a stock MAF on these cars!

True, I totally forgot you can actually play with the tables and STILL use the stock MAF even if its maxed out. Good point.

Listen to Ponyhntr, there really is no reason to change.

Unless you're pushing 600hp + there really is no reason why a MAF should be purchased.

Now does the same go for ported ends?

I dont think so, but your have to remember your altering something that gives feedback to fuel management based on heated filaments. When you start to change the way the sensor acts, the tune on the pcm has to be compensated for that change. This is at least the way i view it.

thats what i thought to. I know theres horror stories about goin to a aftermarket MAF.

Ported and descreened are fine. Although they will both effect a tune. On the pcmforless order form those are two of the questions, if the maf is ported and if it is descreened.
