i have pacesetter long tubes, ory, anda bullet muffler dumped. if i removed the y and did 2 straight pipes, and two bullets, that never x'd, would i lose power? just to seperate straight pipes.

You would lose a little mid-range torque. Not a big deal if you rock an auto with a big stall. The interior noise level of your car will go up substantially.

Yes. Believe it or not, the LT1 can lose mid range torque lol.

Oh no! It will pick up a bit on the top-end for sure. The hotter the cam/heads you have, the better the result of going from a single exhaust to a true-duals set-up. It will suffer in the low-end/mid-range, from not having the x-pipe/y-pipe there though.

when i put the headers in it already suffered i dont know how much more loss i can take! lol

Thats how my setup is with 1 chambers. I dont think im losing too much power with it. I didnt do an x pipe just for ground clearence reasons an i think i made the right choice. My ground clearence is a lot better than my other car with a y pipe.

You wont loose much, just a little bit in the low/mid as described above.

What you loose down low/mid, you will more than make up for up top though...

you really wont lose much like said above

also you might want to consider what you want your car to sound like because if you dont like the way it sounds it wont be worth the few extra hp up top

I have no intentions of making my car THE FASTEST (because lord knows that'll be exspensive) so I pick the parts I want that are best for my aplication.

I went with shorty headers because they were free and my car is too low to run a ORY (granted eventually I'll raise the front up about a inch (to about a 1" drop) and then I can run LTs) and the 2OTL because it flows good, is stock for my car, is quiet enough to not be annoying as a DD but still has a growl if I see a mustang at the stop light.

Overall in exhaust you may lose 5-10hp which can be made up by a slightly larger cam or a better tune.

I don't buy into that

I switched from stock manifolds and a flowmaster to pacesetter LTs and SLP LM and dynoed before and after, I picked up power on the entire curve

you know i didnt thinkk so either, but i feel like the tires dont break loose as easy as they used to. they takes a little more pedal to break em free

i used to have them like this, i didnt like it cause of the ground clearance, id hit everything and couldnt have more than one passenger, it felt sluggish down low but up high put me in the seat, i personally like my x pipe setup more, its just my opinion though

You are prolly losin a lil down low, a tune would help!

but im not gaining anything uptop? so basically having my exhaust like this over a regular cat back, or a x pipe, is completly useless?

IronOutlaw

No, you are definitly getting better flow like that than you will with a catback. You would get better flow with an x or h pipe but imo if you like what you got dont change it. My setup is just tuned down at the axle with my mufflers welded in right behind the header. I thought about changing to an x but just cant justify spending that much money on a new exhaust.
